  1. Is Sabres Media that clever?
  2. That was a stretch.
  3. And I thought you were a romantic. I wrote "championship moment," not championship.
  4. Disagree. None of those moments felt like a championship moment bc they were moments on the way to what we were convinced was a championship. RJ Night was different. I was there. You could convince yourself this is what it's going to feel like. Not so for those playoff moments in 06, or dozens of others down through time. Of course, that's just me.
  5. I've been sitting on a "Four Strikes and I'm Out?" post, and one of the strikes obviously is Rick. I almost certainly was a bigger fan of Rick than the Sabres (if the two can even be considered distinct). I was by leaps and bounds a bigger fan of Rick than of the NHL. I wouldn't walk across my street to see an NHL game not involving the Sabres. They did play one awesome and direction-filled and passion-filled game in front of him. On his banner night. Of course he didn't get to call it. Until the Sabres win a Cup, that win is as close to a championship moment as we'll ever get.
  6. No jealousy a'tall. Not of mouse potatoes who think they can draw up a peeper better than NHL coaches, anyway. The person I'm jealous of is the grandma in the Dunn sweater and the tasseled hat she's worn since Day One. She loves the team, every team, relishes every win and lets every loss roll off her back.
  7. The analogies I've used over the years are many. But can you imagine being a fan of a band, and you enhance your enjoyment of being a fan of that band by rewriting all of their songs so they don't suck?
  8. I'll get there. But, really, it's not our job. I do understand why some fans would look at our front office, our coaches and our roster and say, "Only I can fix it."
  9. Some of you guys should put your name in. No, seriously, it's amazing you never got beyond SabreSpace.
  10. At least troops are not in the streets, prelude to never having another election.

  12. He admitted he didn't know a hockey puck from a meatball. He never coached toddlers in O-leen.
  13. Elsewhere, TP announced he will purchase the hospital's beer league team, the C Diffs.
  14. He passed... and it was intercepted. Ptooeeyyy! Enough with this garbage! Too soon? Taking me back to days when the Bills and Sabres meant so much more to me. You hung on every word, because words were a rarer commodity. Chil'ren, this was before the Internet.
  15. I don't recall being a Pete here. At times, a peter, yes.
  16. There actually could be some news soon about an event. Whether it involves Jim remains to be seen. My name should be engraved on the Cup.
  17. He went on at length one night about split pea soup. Art didn't take himself too seriously, a trait young sports personalities should think about adopting. It's sports. It's supposed to be fun. Oh yeah, Art once said he dated a gal from Bradford, PA.
  18. It seems like I've asked this in recent years. When is the absolute nadir of interest in hockey? When is the news the driest and dustiest? We might be past them. August is into double digits, and team previews/outlooks are popping up.
  19. Rusks. Rusks. They're a hard biscuit often given to teething babies. Hence the reference as the Scheffler baby made motions toward the Claret Jug. I posted a message on a Scots Language Forum on Facebook, and a top contributor had the answer. We were missing a Scottish ear and knowledge of Scottish foods, is all. Again, thank you Al Gore for the Internet.
  20. I was hoping the wordly @Sabres Fan in NS had posted to solve my Lusks Mystery. Alas, no. My friend, see my video post above and tell me what the bloody Hell the man said, and what it means.
  21. Lux is a British vodka. Would make sense, I guess. I know. It's making me a little crazy. Lusks doesn't appear to be a thing.
  22. You can fill the Cup with all manner of things, but what in the world is the announcer filling the Claret Jug with at about 11:12 in the video? CC says "lusks." That doesn't seem to be right.
  23. Just been keeping an eye on things. With the dust perhaps settling, the following from Mike Rose of the Batavia Daily News seems like the best summary I've seen. The Sabres seem to be stuck in Meh Mode. But let's see what the fall brings. "The Sabres did make several additions that appear to be positives. Michael Kesselring and Connor Timmins should help shore up the right side of the defense pairings, and Josh Doan and Justin Danforth should be quality depth contributors for the forward group. In addition, Alex Lyon provides a solid goaltender to add to the mix. The problem is that most of those moves are along the margins of the roster. With the departure of JJ Peterka in the deal that brought in Doan and Kesselring, Buffalo needed more than that to elevate to a team that can be feared in the Atlantic Division." https://www.thedailynewsonline.com/sports/rose-with-sabres-seemingly-done-making-moves-the-same-philosophical-issues-remain/article_1b8de285-3b92-464c-a5d9-5e585d75faca.html
  24. If they are, it's only on paper, which doesn't mean anything.
