  1. How about de-tooling. They clearly have a bunch of guys who don't have the winning stuff. Get some winning personalities in here. Zucker was a good move in that direction. And yeah that goes all the way to the top of the lineup. What good is elite talent if you can't win?
  2. You still got it! Glad to see you're back.
  3. Looks like good/bad puck luck to me. Would Adams (argh) be wrong to not improve the forward ranks and make some desperate move in goal? Just curious... what do the asterisks indicate? And God love ya for putting in the work.
  4. Not sure. But you have the best handle on SabreSpace!
  5. No. I fell asleep again. I really want to agsorb what they said. Maybe about 2 this afternoon after lunch. I also started to listen to Fairchild or Fairburn and that knocked my ass out too.
  6. These guys put me to sleep last night. Now that I'm awake way too early I think I'll watch again.
  7. I thought it was a thoughtful answer by Tage. I mean, he actually answered the question. I wouldn't put it in the "yeah ya know obviously" bin.
  8. Tage was asked about the "transformation" of the last 20 games and what was the difference in the team. Terrible question IMHO. It was garbage time (again). Putting that aside, perhaps the answer was very telling. I have always thought individual development in the context of no emphasis on winning is a terrible way of rebuilding. I had never thought of Tage's take on how young players think in that situation: He said the so called transformation was the result of "more maturity." He said the Sabres had a lot of young guys chasing goals and personal accomplishments, but they managed to start doing "the right thing" with and away from the puck. My read is that the right thing when trying to win a hockey game is not always the right thing when trying to score a goal or put up points. Now, Tage was referring to a time when the team was effectively eliminated. The last 20, not the first 20. Still, would it be a surprise to learn that having the youngest team in the league for several seasons has resulted in plenty of selfish play when the bullets are real, especially considering what the kids have seen: a never ending drought, the EEE stance of the owner, meager cap spending, who the GM is and how he constructs a roster, the eternal emphasis on individual development, development oriented coaches, etc. Why wouldn't young players "go get theirs" number one and play the right way to win a distant number two? I'll listen and hang up.
  9. Good point. He doesn't think Power will miss time. And Time is not his pet iguana that just died.
  10. It makes me question how elite they are... at least how elite they are at winning. There's a difference. Someone opined that the Sabres have three cornerstone players and shame on Adams for not adding MORE around them. That doesn't add up for me. Thompson had three goals in 17 games as the season circled the drain.
  11. Adams said on GR he is not concerned about Power missing time. The decision now is surgery vs. rehab. Power was to go to NYC for second opinion.
  12. But on ice excellence is the first thing listed. And Dahlin started a foundation.
  13. I've never owned a proper jersey, er, sweater.
  14. So it's basically Hart, Masterton and Clancy all rolled into one. I remember award night going way back where several players were honored. I don't understand how we got to one mega award. I believe the voters look at this as team MVP. I find it telling they consistently view Tuch as more V than Dahlin.
  15. I'm ready. What do I do first?
  16. Do you weigh games the same? Does 11 goals in the first 47 games, then 16 in the final 35 mean anything?
  17. The seas were combed at daybreak. Not a soul survived. Gentlemen, it was a pleasure posting with you.
  18. The E to the 3 Trophy. It could be three separate trophies. But no. Engraving costs. Why not Dahlin? Fans voted, right? Maybe I'm not the only one lukewarm on the guy.
  19. 430 on Easter Eve. I can't get over it. People have plastic eggs to dye and the Easter Bunny has to screw his mate and dry clean his costume. It's madness.
  20. I hate to see him go, but I love to see him walk away.
  21. We have past Appreciation Nights to go by. I don't recall booing. I do recall a positive reaction to the team raising its sticks. The jersey giveaway always seems upbeat. I think the anger peaks earlier in the season and anyone left at the end either doesn't care about the record (a sizable number IMHO) or is in a merciful mood. It's the last game, and it's sad.
  22. I just caught that. I think I'll leave it. Humiliate myself and the team at once. Win win for everyone.
