On a technical level there's the critical issue of communication between goalie and esp. D. This is about showcasing the future. Again, the present can go to Hell.

So wouldn't fancy stats say the Sabres had good puck luck this season (in the o zone)? It looks like they overcame mediocre underlying fundamentals by scoring a lot off the rush and being superb at passing. Would be interesting to see if the rush goals declined when the season got to "playoff mode."

This is basically the team's Masterton. ....presented annually to the player fans believe best embodies what it means to be a Buffalo Sabre, through on-ice excellence, resiliency, and dedication to the community... Not sure who fits best. Would have to be Kyle I think. Thompson fits in the big picture of his career. Really hard to know the community angle. I'm sure some guys do a lot and don't cheapen it with self promotion. You could almost go Boosh.
