NHL needs more penalty shots.

Where does realism end and pessimism begin? How many teams down through history have gone young and cheap and told the fans, You just wait until these kids grow up? How many have been successful? I'll say this. I'm reasonably optimistic that the franchise is finishing up one small step toward reentering the NHL. Boy, the bar is low and the pace is excruciating.

No. It was a point of order and apparently too sly a joke. I like Devon. I really do. I'm just not ready to hand over the keys. If he's the man already I worry that the 3-5 year timeline is for realsies. I ain't got time for that. I'm thinking more along the lines of a bridge franchise goalie to take the team far and deep and then the baton is handed off.

And a former NHL coach in Brunette and a former AHL coach. Would be interesting to hear Lindy talk about an apparent change in philosophy. Can't argue with the results.

Only Lindy knows. Eleven, too, probably. I remember doing the research. Almost every NHL head coach had someone on staff with NHL or AHL coaching experience. Coaching trees are fun to consider as well.

A million times yes. I look behind the players sometimes and scratch my head. Lindy never wanted top assistants either. His pierogie. But he had earned the right. The cynic in me gets fired up. How seriously should this franchise be taken with those guys alongside DG? I'll get blowback of course, but there can't be anyone here who thinks THAT is the coaching staff when they're in the final.

Kinda sad to see KO going out like this (assuming retirement). Hopefully a few more highlights are at hand. I hate to bring up pulling the goalie again, but I have to wonder why DG didn't pull the goalie with about 1:10 to go.

Where else would he rather be than right there right then?!

My other prediction is that handicapped people will continue to be carried down that fine establishment's stairs to use the bathroom. And no one will care.

Opening the window and hearing peepers after the Sabres win a playoff game in OT is romantic. I want the guy in goal who gives the best chance of making that possible. For the record I've not said anything negative about Levi. I think the only person I've suggested isn't interested in making the playoffs is KA. I'm not sure it matters much. It's a four head monster now. Defend the goal and score some goals and JWB. Now allow me to go all Weave-Spock. Would UPL or Comrie have had a better or worse S% than Levi playing Levi's college schedule? I mean if Levi's already better than those two at the NHL level, they must be worse than him at the college level.

I predict Carson Briere will rehabilitate himself from this most heinous of crimes and will, eventually, lead a good life.

He'd be playing every game. Duh. Lots of reasons, but in trying to flesh them out I realized they're not specific to Levi, whom I will admit being unfamiliar with. More situational things. It's probably not the best thought experiment. It's not about a whole season, just a few games. What most seem to be thinking is that he can fly under the radar to some extent (pull off something near miraculous before he realizes what he's doing). It's funny that there's more doubt as to whether he can or should be the starter NEXT season than whether he should be the starter the rest of the way.

I haven't been obnoxious. I'm solid enough in my thinking to not have to resort to it. Maybe some of you are not quite convinced.

Speaking of reasonable, is the following a reasonable way of looking at things? The three headed monster in goal has been, uh, monstrous, but using the very simplistic metric of wins, their results have been acceptable. Enough to put the team tantalizingly close to the postseason. For the sake of argument, if Levi had started every game this season, where would we be? I have little doubt it would be: well out of the race.

The obnoxiousness is dismissing out of hand very reasonable arguments for not going all in on Levi at this particular moment.

Need the confused emoji back. Levi's never had an extremely bad game. He's only played one, and it was perty good.
