82 points probably is a good goal, really. That's "the Sabres played for 2/3 of a season at a playoff bubble place". Given some of the current roster, I'd be pretty happy with that result.

9 points equates to a 11-12 game winning streak, or 11-12 games above average for the rest of the season. How, you ask? To be on playoff pace, you need to capture 1.2 points per game (give or take a few 0.01s depending on the year). Each win is 0.8 points above that number. This isn't insurmountable, but to hit 0.600 points per game (which Boston and Pittsburgh are pacing at right now), the Sabres need 1.37 points per game. Over a full season, that paces 112 points meaning the Sabres need to be one of the top two or three teams in hockey for the next five months.

What I see there is if the Sabres were to play the Leafs every game and maintain their .598 pt%, they'd make the playoffs. Badly worded. There's list which the Tweet calls "most beaten lest", of which the Jest and Eulers are tied at 29.

This is the energy today needs.

I think in this case there's merit. Not Khudobin's merit, but the Sabres really do need NHL-level G and this might be an option. You'd be right if this were a JAG-replacement-level forward, we have metric tons of those already.

Jabra 75t work well enough for me, use them for work (although the mic isn't as good apparently as the built-in Macbook mic), and work well enough for doing yardwork and other stuff. I don't sit and just listen much, but no complaints there either. I have a decent pair of wired IEMs too, and I rarely use them since the Jabras work well enough.

Team performance? 50/50. UPL's getting shelled in his first NHL game this season? Almost rather play Dell and give UPL the next start.

Will they really fly him there and with no practice with the team start UPL? That seems like a a recipe for a poor outing.

I agree. Good is a relative term, this team isn't, but it's not a tire fire. Maybe I have some PTSD from all those years people would be saying "We can still make the playoffs!" when the math said they have to play 30 games at a 120 pts/season pace to get to where the bubble would likely be. 🙂

Figuring 96 points gets you into the playoffs most years, that's 77 over the next 60, 1.28 pts/game. Over a full season that's 105 points. Not unreasonable, but that's a pretty solid pace that the Sabres haven't shown any ability to match.

I think a player can waive their NMC/NTC whenever they want, but I'm not sure how many GTs waive unless it's Buffalo or the AHL (which may well be the case in Dallas). For that matter, I wonder how many teams are waiting to see if Dallas ends up facing waiving someone and will low-ball offer a low pick.

Yep, he is of the old school, if you didn't win you lost. The metric usually aligns with the points to get into the playoffs, so it's not terrible, although I prefer points percentage as a better. 0.580 and you're a good chance to get into the playoffs with 95 points. You could be DeLuca.500 at 41-37-4 and easily miss with 86 points. Or be DeLuca.500 at 41-15-26 and be near the top of the league with 108 points.

Not interested in giving up assets for a feel-good move. As others said upthread, come UFA time if Kane is interested in a short-ish, mid-price contract to close things up in Buffalo, maybe. Don't like the scandal stuff, although if KA got a feel that he truly says to himself, "that was really dumb and I'm never letting that happen again" I'm cool with second chances. Otherwise he can play somewhere else.
