  1. This morning on XM they were questioning why a team would play Reimer 3 straight games because it doesn’t help anyone’s development. I get that angle, but don’t you still need to send the message to all these young players that good play will be rewarded? Yeah, you’re not developing the 37 year old goalie, but he’s earned these games.
  2. I had to go back and look at how far you can actually move up, thinking there’s a scenario where Buffalo wins the first draw and only goes to second. That’s 10 spots though, so not possible. I always forget all the minor tweaks they keep making to this system.
  3. And it means a hell of a lot more when it’s the new guy saying you need that culture change. I know it’s a bit crazy to call Ruff the new guy, but in this scenario, he is.
  4. I was just looking at that earlier today. It’s crazy that the line in the east is 10 points behind the west. Part of that is due to the west teams having played a few more games, but it’s still a huge gap.
  5. Gilbert really doesn’t matter much. He’s the JAG throw in. He has played one game so far. He’s a break glass in case of emergency guy, someone who is only going to play if Jay McKee forgets to wash his shin pads again. The deal was essentially cozens and the 2nd for Norris and Bernard-Docker.
  6. Or they could win that second lottery and get who you really want.😉
  7. I think that post-trade adrenaline rush is still in place for most players at this point, but it's even more present with Bernard-Docker since he just started playing. With a guy like him, we're not really going to get a better idea on what he brings, if he can sustain this, until next year.
  8. I was not talking about Buffalo at any point. It’s simply about how two different markets completely changed Yzerman’s results. Sure, there’s more to it than just tax and market desirability, but it definitely has played a role in his lack of results.
  9. I guess I wouldn’t call that approaching, but that’s not really all that important. NHL players get a very sweet deal given the money differences between the two leagues. Guaranteed contracts, higher salaries due to smaller rosters, guaranteed a larger portion of the revenue pie than the NFL… They’ve done very well for themselves.
  10. He’s in college, so of course he’s not under contract yet.
  11. They certainly don’t help. But for whatever reason we somehow want to live in a world where there is only one singular reason for everything.
  12. I give you apples vs apples and you show me apples vs oranges. That’s completely different people running things, and in the case of. Buffalo, multiple different people. Yzerman in Florida vs in Michigan: good without taxes, horrible with.
  13. And to think that some people say the different tax rates don’t matter.
  14. From what I can see, the highest NFL salary is ~$60 million for Dak Prescott. No one is approaching the NHL salary cap of $88 million. NHL players actually have a higher average salary than the NFL. But that’s what happens when one roster is less than half the size of the other.
  15. Medical stuff is a blast, isn’t it? We’ve learned of three different food allergies for our one year old over the past month or two. Every meal now has turned into a screaming session as we try to figure out all the new meal plans for her. I work from home in a room right off of the kitchen. Lunch time is so bad that I pretty much have to leave the house for a half hour.
  16. 20 losses just means that they’re due. Seriously though, these simulations mean absolutely nothing. Hell, we don’t even know where they’ll finish in the standings. At this point, it looks like they can go anywhere from 3rd all the way to 8th. All those games in hand and the fact that they’ve been winning more than a few of the teams they’re chasing, they’re probably going to jump a few teams. I’ll go right down the middle and say 6th.
  17. And the same goes with the so called insiders. They're essentially paid to be compilers. They'll wind up with a better knowledge of certain teams based on where they are based, but they're not going to have a complete intimate knowledge of any of the teams.
  18. It feels appropriate that all of his insanity came to the surface after those roles.
  19. That’s not Edge, it’s the Rock. 😉
  20. They serve a purpose. Someone has to pool all the resources across the league. Brawndo doesn’t have a clue what is going on in Calgary.
  21. It has begun? Why did it take so long?
  22. Right after the trade I kept hearing the same thought on NHL radio on XM over and over: "It's a bad deal because the sabres need a culture change... just look at Dahlin being punched by two players and no one coming to his aid... Cozens brings toughness". I don't know how people can say this over and over and fail to realize that Cozens was the one ignoring all those punches to Dahlin. If these talking heads can't review what happened one day ago, they certainly can't view the entire picture over the last couple of years.
  23. And let’s not forget that this inflated opinion is about a Canadian as opposed to the American the Sabres added. But then the Sabres added a Canadian defenseman, so they should love that part.
  24. He was only a sophomore, so the listers may not have even been looking at him.
  25. They’ve also attempted to correct their biggest flaw, the goalies, several times. A pipeline only means so much if you never attempt to supplement it from the outside.
