  1. Some might say that the shooting percentage is the only thing that they haven't "put together", and they've got too many talented scorers for that to continue. I could see this being a 6-5 game.
  2. Less probable, perhaps, but without the nationalistic impact. Last I checked, there isn't a war (cold or otherwise) between Latvia and Canada.
  3. Anyone else read that in Viper's (Tom Skeritt's) voice?
  4. Untouchable* * I use this word like I use "prove" when talking about statistics. It's not 100% certain, but it would take something really unusual (unlikely) to make it not true.
  5. I seem to remember something like "Hey Grosek, you Smehlik like Zhitnik!" Actually, I don't remember "Grosek" being the name there, but I can't remember who it was. Edit: google shows "Hasek" or (even better) "Peca-head" as player it is directed towards.

  7. You don't score, until you score.
  8. According to their respective league's pages: Dal Colle - 6'2", 171 lbs Reinhart - 6'1", 183 lbs McDavid - 6'0", 185 lbs Now, Ritchie, on the other hand: Ritchie - 6'3", 229 lbs is a big boy.
  9. In which case, we wouldn't touch him with a ten-foot pole, since the compensation would include our "McDavid" lottery pick.
  10. Updated for the Olympic break. Tank Nation chart certainly looks better than it did at the start of the week. Also, after flat-lining for a bit, they've started going down again. I had to move my lower limit down again.
  11. The way that he's playing right now, I would think that ... and probably be right. However, I wouldn't want to bet on in carrying over to next season. So, sell, sell, sell!!!
  12. I'll give it to you, even though it's really just a lightly armored/armed tracked reconnaissance vehicle. Actually, the more I think about it, "lightly armed/armored" might be the perfect kind of "tank" for this team.
  13. I had a good one, but ... I forgot to take a picture before I flushed it.
  14. Tank Nation chart added. Interesting to note that we were actually ahead of the Oilers 21 games into the season. Looking at the seasons since the '04-'05 lockout, 29th and 30th have looked like: 2011-12: 74, 65 2010-11: 68, 62 2009-10: 74, 62 2008-09: 66, 61 2007-08: 71, 71 2006-07: 67, 56 2005-06: 58, 57 Only once (2007-08) has the 30th team finished above 65 points and only once (2005-06) has the 29th team finished below 66. So, it seemed like 65 points would be a natural line to track against. Only the Sabres and Oilers are below it, and the Oilers are getting close to it.
  15. Somewhere Paul Hamilton is chuckling.
  16. Sabres will tie it in the last 20 seconds and then get another non-ROW by beating them in the shootout.

    Superbowl!

Going off memory from what they put up partway through the fourth, but if they had let Wilson take the last few plays and he had taken them the last fifteen yards or so for the touchdown, it would have been the largest margin of victory ever, right?
  18. Want to have some fun? Go back to February 2007 and look at the "depleted" roster affectionately known as the Saberks. I weep at how not-bad that roster looks compared to what we have now.
  19. Yes, but Edmonton has locked in their next three games at 2 points each, so we cannot say which team is having a worse season right now. In fact, we can't even say who is better through 54GP (a Sabres regulation loss puts Edmonton ahead due to the tiebreaker.) But, you are correct, through 53GP, the Sabres were better (if you ignore 13 ROW for Edmonton vs. 9 ROW for the Sabres.)
  20. True, Edmonton had 36 points through 53GP. However, they did rattle off three wins from there. So, the Sabres would need 4 points in the next 3 games to stay with them through 56GP. They cannot be ordered at this time (though, I would put 4 points just slightly ahead of 3 games-in-hand, in expectation, for whatever that's worth.) They are at least 7 behind Calgary and 6 behind the Islanders (i.e., that's how far behind they would be if they won their games-in-hand.
  21. Last 10 games (in case improvement is argued): Hodgson has 6 goals, 4 assists (4 goals, 2 assists 5-on-5) Kassian has 3 goals, 3 assists (2 goals, 3 assists 5-on-5) Adjusting for TOI (per minute): Hodgson generated 0.0363 GPM, 0.0242 APM Kassian generated 0.0224 GPM, 0.0224 APM
