  1. I was surprised that The Mountain rolled over and did his number on Obe from above. It made more sense in the book, where he was too injured to get up at all (thus, Oberyn's overconfidence), but used his sheer strength to pull the Prince in and cave in his face. The show made it seem like he wasn't that bad off, afterall.
  2. Though, if it has to be a Bruin, there are far worse choices than Bergeron.
  3. Ryan O'Reilly is not physical, but he is hard to play against. He led the league in takeaways in 2013-14 (by a lot) and 2011-12, and was on pace to do so in 2012-13. He did this with considerably fewer giveaways than most players around him in takeaways. Only Marian Hossa and Jaden Schwartz had a higher (barely) differential per game this season.
  4. Nah. Definitely the Bowl, probably the Cup, but not the Trophy.
  5. But they have. The two conferences do not play each other in the playoffs (and barely do during the regular season) until the SC finals. Instead, each conference has a three-round (conference quarterfinals, semifinals and finals) tournament to figure out who the best team in that conference is, and then they play each other in the SC finals to determine who the best team in the NHL is. In this way, it's like the WHL, OHL and QMJHL, each having its own tournaments to figure out who the best team is in the individual league, and then each one gets a berth to determine who the best team in the CHL is. Likewise, collegiate conferences have tournaments to determine who their best teams are, and then those teams go on to play in a tournament to figure out who the best NCAA team is. In the NHL one teams gets two awards (SC and conference trophy), one gets one (the other conference trophy), and the rest get nothing.
  6. 6(.04) = .24 or 6(4%) = 24% (Actually, with annual compounding, 4% per year for six years works out to be 26.5% higher. 1.04^6 = 1.265.)
  7. Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!
  8. Lundqvist is now 5-1 in Game 7's and maintains his 1 GAA. Safe to say that he is "clutch".
  9. Makes sense; I'm early in Book 4.
  10. Without giving away too much, does the book series cover Ramsay/Theon in greater detail after Tyrion's trial? I'm only slightly past that part in the books and I remember Theon being taken and then something about a piece of his finger skin being sent back; nothing like what we've seen to date on the TV series. Is that a relationship that the TV series has expanded upon or is it just out of order with the books?
  11. I know that it's been said before, but I'm really glad that Peter Dinklage finally has a role that lets him shine.
  12. Coyotes will be soft in ... 3 ... 2 ... 1 ...
  13. My brother built one a couple of years back and has improved it each year since. It's amazing now. Even has a lighted Sabres logo under it at center ice!
  14. Unfortunately, no matter how much you enjoy doing something, when it becomes a job, it becomes "work". There are pressures, politics, demands, etc., that come along with being paid that make it nearly impossible to be just fun. My first real job was a dream situation; a kid in a candy shop. It became work pretty quickly. That said, he wasn't being asked to be a skill player anymore, but was instead risking his long-term health (especially with concussions), so it's understandable why he walked away.
  15. I got the feeling that he was upset that the Blues felt they needed to upgrade from him. Then, it came out very early (before he physically got here) that the Sabres were looking to flip him for picks/prospects. TM may even have told him as much. So, his comments, which were something like "I won't be here long," were probably reflective of that state. Had he been in the plans for Buffalo, he might have felt/acted differently (after he cooled down about the Blues slighting him.) If the Isles were to tell him that he will be the #1 (and offer him a lot of $$), then that might be enough to sign.
  16. Yeah, f*** Miro! Oh, I see that you're over it.
  17. Don't forget Doreah: Exhibit #2 (NSFW)
  18. Now we know why Tommen wasn't cast as the plump little fat boy of, what, 7? 8? That scene would have been ... uh ... awkward.
  19. Even if we finish #29 and #30 in the league, the odds would still be with us getting Eichel and whoever goes #3. A little worse than a coin-flip chance (43.8:56.2) that we get both.
  20. While the current thirds are terrible, I don't see how that banner shows what "a professional designer" could do. Pretty uninspired itself.
  21. They'll need to blow more than a 3-goal lead in Game 7 to beat the 2010 Bruins collapse.
  22. Had to see for myself: http://youtu.be/Nk_zpMory-0
  23. I was going to say how I turned that game on late in the third when it was 3-1 and I how I couldn't believe that it was 5 years ago, but then ...
  24. Penner scored the game winner at 19:59 in the second. Kings won 2-1. If it's 1-1 near the end of the second, Miller should be afraid, very afraid.
  25. Only, here, the JV (CHL) players can play in college (NHL), but not on the varsity team (AHL). Not to mention that the JV team and Varsity team in this analogy are different organizations, completely, unlike actual JV/Varisty teams. There is a de facto "exceptional status" in the CHL-NHL relationship; Tyler Myers earned it. They just won't let you take one of their top players and stick him in the minors. This only affects the handful of young players who are too good for the CHL, but not good enough for the NHL. As for the 18-21 year old question, most posters here older than that would probably look back on themselves in that age range and say that they really weren't mature enough to truly be "adults".
