Nah, that was Joel; this is Yoelle. ð

No, just like he said, it would technically still be a penalty, but wouldn't affect the outcome of the play. In both cases, it should be called (rules are rules), but not because it actually gave the team an actual unfair advantage. It's unfortunate when something like that is missed. However, there are cases where missed calls actually affect the outcome, which is unfair.

	This thread?

I have to suffer through several such shows, and relatively speaking, I find it to be pretty good.

(It's the off-season for everything, so ...) I found out what happened to Kyle Williams after he retired; he's got a home improvement show on HGTV: OK, not really. My wife and daughter love this show (Home Town; it's actually pretty good.) It's not a perfect match, but every time we watch it, I think, "it's Kyle!"

Plus, it's one throw from each. I'm sure there's variation for each, so the difference could just be due to the "noise" in their processes.

(Twice in one week that I got to use this gif!)

The wouldn't spin it in a way that supports the anti-vaccine camp; they would spin it as supporting the personal choice camp. Those two camps (sets) intersect, but neither fully contains the other.

Yeah, that would be terrible .... we might only make it to the SC finals ...

Thanks for quoting my post, which has since disappeared. Good job connecting it to the discussion at hand. I should clarify that Jon Favreau has the original trilogy ingrained in his spirit (soul), not the bottom of his foot (sole). ðĢ

Agree to disagree. There were so many things that weren't good - and I'm not even one who minded Luke's fall from glory. Plus, it felt very disconnected from TFA, so when was it really that they didn't commit. To me, it felt like twice. I didn't mean to imply that you just get fans together for the project. The team needed someone who was qualified technically, but also had a passion for the lore that came before. Jon Favreau is the obvious example of someone who is in the industry, but also clearly grew up with the original series ingrained on his sole. And not everyone would need to be a fan. You'd still want outside voices, too, or the franchise can't grow. Anyway, we should best leave the SW talk for another thread.

I agree with much of your point, but The Last Jedi was terrible. Their mistake was not having someone or even a team that included real fans of the franchise*, plan the path of the trilogy in advance. It was relatively directionless at the start, and then Johnson and Abrams (again) were seemingly allowed to completely change the direction from the prior episode as they saw fit. It was like two people, who aren't from the area, grabbing for the wheel while driving in the fog without a map (or navi), and then being surprised when both the trip and destination weren't good. * While The Mandalorian had its flaws, watching the behind the scenes process was inspiring, and the results were certainly better than the third trilogy.

I almost posted that same thing yesterday. ð

15 years later, I can still watch this with the sound off and hear every word Rick and Jim said.

Done without thinking very much. ðĪŠ

My ideal scenario is that the Sabres beat Pittsburgh twice in regulation, and then Anaheim pushes one game to OT. ð
 -
No, but still notably more likely not to happen than to happen. We play Pittsburgh twice and they play Minnesota twice. They have similar records (including last 10), and both have clinched playoff spots. Pittsburgh is playing for the top spot in the East Division, while the Wild are only playing for third in their division. Anaheim is likely to lose both, but getting a point or even one win wouldn't be that surprising. However, even with the Sabres playing like they are, winning both against Pittsburgh is a big task. If they do manage to do that on the back of Houser winning four straight, though, I'll be OK with it.
 -
Unfortunately, this won't even be true if we do finish behind Anaheim. The first two picks are up for grabs (lottery) this year. Right now, we're guaranteed one of the two highest odds of getting the first pick, but currently can pick as low as 4th overall. If (still a big if) we finish behind Anaheim, we can still pick as low as 3rd overall.

From the "Not a tank" thread:
 -
No matter what, the Ducks have to lose both in regulation for the Sabres to possibly pass them. Likewise, the Sabres need to win both, but not necessarily both in regulation, to pass them: If at least one of the Sabres' two wins is in regulation, they pass the Duck based on RW tiebreaker. If both Sabres wins are in OT/SO, they would be tied in points and RW, but would trail the Ducks in the ROW tiebreaker (at most 13 vs. the Duck's 15.) In summary, for the Sabres to not finish last, the Ducks have to lose both in regulation and the Sabres must win both with at least one coming in regulation.
 -
So, we can't catch NJ anymore, since we can at best tie in points and RW, but we can't get to 17 ROW. For Vancouver, we'd have to win out in regulation ... and they'd have to lose 11 straight in regulation. ðē Just Anaheim is left. They have us in ROW (16 vs. 14 max), so we'd either have to beat them in points (need at least 7 out of 8 ) or tie (6-8 points, depending on what they do in their last 4) w/ more RW (they start with a lead of 1.)
