Jack in a defense first style team would be amazing.

Vegas pick...do the Sabres want them to win the lottery this year?
SDS replied to sweetlou's topic in The Aud Club
If that analysis holds for the last 10 years, and then go with it. But honestly, if the take away is that everyone overvalues the top of the draft because it’s never as good as it supposed to be, then the ROI means always trade down from the top. -

10 years old with no data at the top of the draft. 🤔 -

Is this actually followed? -
Since it’s two separate draws, it doesn’t work that way. It’s like flipping a coin twice.

It came with the ball gag.

In this scenario, I think it does. There’s a finite number of outcomes split up into those groups. Yes! People can be very fooled by statistics. However, I don’t think this is one of those cases. I think this is essentially a mildly more involved case of rolling a die.

I pop ibuprofen every time I attempt to read it.

I know the last time we had two generational talents at the top of the draft the hit rate was 50%. -

I don’t follow NFL or NHL drafts for specific players, but I do read general comments about them every year. After 20 years of observation, this is almost a universal truth: next year‘s draft is always better than this year‘s draft. -

Every negative thought you “read” was inserted into those few words by you. John is Buffalo born and bred. Just a couple years ago, I used to play hockey in Maryland with a guy who went to high school with him in Buffalo and stood up at his wedding. The guy loves Buffalo. So sure, the guy that was born in Buffalo, was raised in Buffalo, lived his entire life in Buffalo, and covered the Sabres for 20 years, was taking a shot. You get another eyeroll for that. 🙄

A guy wants to do something different than being a beat reporter for 20 years - the last 10 which contained copious amounts of misery? That is interpreted as a shot? 🙄

Sabres president of hockey ops — I'm calling it (again)
SDS replied to PASabreFan's topic in The Aud Club
John is great. He’s been with our communities for probably two decades now. He stops into our tailgate at the Bills opener every season and walks around and says hi to all the community members. He has personal relationships with many of our members. They go out to dinner just for camaraderie and he makes visits to our social gatherings before games, when he can. I think you’ll find you will get out of a relationship what you put into it. -

But the NHL doesnt play by USA hockey rules.

Thoughts on an Alternative to the Draft Lottery Format

Everyone is offering solutions, but no one is defining the problem. If you want the draft to be held a different way, you first have to define your set of objectives/problems that you wish to address with your solution. -

Why not? Because you have to choose something. And every time you choose something you didn’t choose 100 other plans.
