Just a couple years ago, I used to play hockey in Maryland with a guy who went to high school with him in Buffalo and stood up at his wedding. The guy loves Buffalo. So sure, the guy that was born in Buffalo, was raised in Buffalo, lived his entire life in Buffalo, and covered the Sabres for 20 years, was taking a shot. You get another eyeroll for that. 🙄

A guy wants to do something different than being a beat reporter for 20 years - the last 10 which contained copious amounts of misery? That is interpreted as a shot? 🙄

John is great. He’s been with our communities for probably two decades now. He stops into our tailgate at the Bills opener every season and walks around and says hi to all the community members. He has personal relationships with many of our members. They go out to dinner just for camaraderie and he makes visits to our social gatherings before games, when he can. I think you’ll find you will get out of a relationship what you put into it.

Why? He was here in Roch for a cup of coffee and is doing really well.

I think the answer here is Zack Kassian. A guy with a reputation he didn’t want because he desperately wanted to be something else. That’s a guy who needed to come into the league with a coach like DG to work through the things he wanted to be and not be pigeonholed into the things he didn’t.

Everyone is offering solutions, but no one is defining the problem. If you want the draft to be held a different way, you first have to define your set of objectives/problems that you wish to address with your solution.

Why not? Because you have to choose something. And every time you choose something you didn’t choose 100 other plans.

It’s complaining that their personal preferences aren’t being catered to. There’s absolutely no thought that the rest of the arena may not share their personal preferences. Or that if one part of the arena is having fun and dancing and they are sitting down saying “this sucks “, there’s no realization that they may be the one that is the problem, not the other person.

Exactly my point… “I would like…“ “I want a high energy atmosphere that caters to my exact taste, and that definitely includes eliminating jazzy anthems.”

That might be the case, but I doubt they change a thing. However, I bet people outside the market will criticize them while they still have a good time.

You guys tell on yourself all the time. Whenever anything new is ever tried, there is someone here calling it stupid and lame and it sucks. That’s not how I enjoy the game when I was 13 years old! I don’t want those people playing music I don’t listen to! I don’t want people playing a goal song that I don’t like! I don’t want to hear hip-hop! I don’t want people looking at the Jumbotron! I don’t want anyone doing anything anywhere at any time that doesn’t mirror exactly what I want. A market like Vegas has it easy because they don’t have half their crowd bitching at the other half about their choices.

How is it that you don’t think this mindset is exactly the problem? People with this mindset claim that anything anyone else wants, primarily the younger generation, is crap. However, these same people want everyone to embrace things that get them excited because that’s what they grew up with 45 years ago. While I’m not defending anything about the Sabres game day presentation, anyone who thinks substituting things they like, for things that other people like, is solving a problem is greatly mistaken.

A reporter reports the statistics of a former player’s first ever playoff game. You interpret that as holding a grudge… 🙄
