  1. Maybe military fly overs before the game?
  2. It’s not in the sense that they are signing so many players with connections to the coach, and only for one year, that you are essentially buying near perfect buy in from every player as a short term locker room reset.
  3. If you start at the very beginning of the Jack Eichel thread and read every post, you’ll find it.
  4. That seems rather cynical. I’m going to give the new guys an opportunity to succeed or fail. It doesn’t cost me anything.
  5. What is his willingness to shield the Pegulas? I know he said there wasn’t an internal cap, but I’m not necessarily sure we are entitled to that information either. At least in the short term. On the other hand, if he was reluctant to sign Ullmark because if future dead dollars, then maybe his discipline may end up hurting him in this case.
  6. No one person speaks to every style of fan. But I have heard it from more than a few people that all they want to see is a team give effort. I think if you sign young, fast guys that work hard and immerse themselves into the community, you’ll see the sentiment soften for a certain portion of the fans.
  7. The Buffalo news was quoted that Ullmark asked for six. That’s a substantial gulf.
  8. I’m too lazy to look up the exact words, but I think the title is close to correct. I think this is an interesting statement from Adams, coupled with the mantra of signing players who want to be here. I don’t know what this looks like in the age of Covid, but I expect to see a concerted ramped up community goodwill effort on part of the Sabres and the players. Expect to see a lot of pictures, with a lot of kids, participating in a lot of community activities.
  9. From the Buffalo news: ”Ullmark, for example, signed for four years in Boston and reportedly wanted six from the Sabres, a scenario that would have severely impacted the development curve and playing time of Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, the team's top prospect goalie.”
  10. More people should stop and thank me for not killing them today.
  11. What was the recommendation and his ultimate choice?
  12. As long as it’s short term, I don’t think they care. I mentioned in the Ullmark topic that I think he’s a trap. You need him now to win, but you can’t rely on him in the future to sign him long-term. Damned if you do damned if you don’t. However, having him for two years during this rebuild would’ve been fine and I think he could’ve been traded if he had 2 years of remaining term.
  13. The obvious solution of trading Ullmark if you’re ready to move on was probably the worst point of the press conference. Personally, I was fine with most everything. I thought this claim was rather bad. Unless, they really do hate the injury potential.
  14. Just grab your junk and start hopping up and down.
  15. He was asked if there was an internal cap. He said no. That can absolutely be true but being on the guidance to be mindful of costs.
  16. He has also spoken endlessly that he’s not giving away Jack. A short term issue conflicts with a long term principle. I’m not bothered by the conflict. He’s inherited stuff.
  17. It's really not. I'm pretty sure I have a tumor.
  18. I trust your memory over mine.
  19. I thought there was a quote from O’Reilly that alluded to this. My memory sucks, but I’m pretty sure he alluded to this.
  20. It appears we’re going to need a video chat for this.
  21. When the ROR situation went down, I tended to think Ryan was the issue because of his past and he couldn’t deal with Jack overshadowing him. Is it possible that enough people have said enough things about Jack that may be O’Reilly was right?
  22. Fans will piss and moan about the lack of prospects now, but a lot of fans will be jacked up for four players in the first round. and I know people want to put an ice pick in their temple when they read that, but it doesn’t mean it isn’t true.
  23. For what purpose? Did they want him or not? Are they trying to lose or not? If the point is they’re trying to lose then they could have just let him walk. Why the dog and pony show? Why scramble to sign two goalies an hour or so after his decision? I’m not down with your point here.
  24. Is your point that they offered him a contract that they knew he would decline? They’ve been talking all summer and the thought is that they were close. So did they sincerely try to sign him or not?
