I really think this dismisses how tiring 3v3 is. It's not like you can dump it into the corner and change all three players.

I’m certainly not arguing anything in bad faith. I actually think you’re not either grasping what I’m asking or I’m asking it poorly. I’m not questioning anyone’s talent. As far as anyone has ever said this off-season, we have a talentless team. What we saw tonight was relentless effort. My question is if Jack Eichel‘s game fits into a style described as relentless effort. His talent fits in anywhere. The question is if his effort fits in the same places. I am certainly not the only one who has made this observation over the years.

Maybe. He did have an MVP like season. I just have a picture of him in my head and how he’s played over the years and it just looks different than what I saw tonight.

In no way shape or form am I denying his speed (when he chooses to use it), his puck protection, his vision, his passing, his shot, etc.… I also have a terrible memory. If people say he’s a relentless forechecker and someone who hounds the puck like what we just saw. I’ll gladly accept it.

We drafted the guy in 2015. He’s played a lot of games. I don’t ever recall him playing a single game in that time where he push the pace of the game with his speed. I’ve read the comments here for years. No one is denying the talent, but I never have seen him play a game like the one we just played.

Goalies are routinely laying on the ice. And in your scenario I could literally kick the puck forward using my toe while picking up nearly the entire the blade off the ice while still keeping the heel on it.

that's nearly impossible to determine. Was the skate lifted last night? The blades are rockered. Can my heel be down and the toe be straight up? Turning your skate could easily cause your blade to be raised a fraction of an inch. This seems like the offside replay where refs are looking at toes instead of holding to the spirit of the rule.

I have always thought that someone could write a book on buffalo sports that consisted of league wide firsts that happened in Buffalo. 1. naming of rich stadium 2. Will Wolford contract escalation clauses 3. there are many more but I’m old but I can’t think of them on the spot. I’ve thought about this for probably 20 years.

So he didn’t passively just redirect the puck. His skate had a forward motion, but I don’t know when that becomes a distinct kicking motion. He clearly did more than just turn his skate.

This isn’t necessarily directed at you, but I don’t understand why people don’t think Seattle wasn’t supposed to be a good team. They got to draft a team full of decent NHL players. Seattle and Vegas did not come into the league like expansion teams of years past in the major sports.

In past leagues, I have advocated for a smaller bench so that managers are required to be more active in their rosters and the pool of eligible players is greater. I think it works pretty well with four on the bench.
