A quick search with results from sportrac claims McDavid makes/made $6m per year in endorsements, Matthews $5m
-
6 defensemen and 3 goalies. Take a wild guess where the space is made for the 7th defenseman.
-
Shayna Goldman called this almost exactly Friday on WGR.
-
There is only 6 defensemen listed on the roster so ya my thought is likely Power is good to go soon. And they will just kick the can down the road for sending someone down Likely they get Ellis in to practice on Wednesday, Power tests it and is G2G, then they make a corresponding move then. Likely Georgiev on waivers I will say its insane we didnt claim Thrun or Middleton just to come in and take a spot for a week or two
-
Yay, Bryson is back in the lineup. I know we're down two d men but still. And we have a silly goalie rotation yet again. How anyone can take ka seriously is beyond me
-
We should ask Josh? Im thinking he's gotta be raking it in with enforcement deals, as he seems to appear in approx 10% of the TV commercials that I'm seeing of late?
-
That was the Botterill staff at that point.
-
Power on IR is unexpected. Gotta think he and/or Kesselring have to be close and this is prudent paperwork. Or are they really OK with being one undercooked piece of chicken from starting Mason Geertsen on D?
-
I bet Kozak goes down when Greenway is back Johnson/Bryson goes down when Power comes back likely Georgiev goes on waivers when Kesserling is back. Then when UPL comes back it will be a tough call, so many will say Geertsen goes down, but I dont think they do that. I do assume UPL is a long term thing here

Wonder what that Bernard-Docker guy is up to for no reason whatsoever.
-
McDavid will get all the national stuff though, especially since he’s a Canadian. I wonder how much money the porn stache has cost Matthews.

https://www.nicb.org/news/news-releases/vehicles-stolen-keys-left-inside-rise There are plenty of people who say to not to bother locking your car so your windows don't get broken. This is not that situation of course, but there are apparently plenty of people who leave their keys in the car. I know a few people who do it. All I know is I've spoken with people who don't lock their doors and have said those words to me. I lock my doors although there have been plenty of times when I haven't and even times when I left the garage door wide open and the inside door open.. overnight while I was away and nothing happened. That's me. But the point is the subjective nature... which it is, because it really depends on where you live and what you expect to happen. -
Didn’t even know Power was hurt. 1 right shot Dman. Excellent
-
Wow, the Adams clown show continues. What are we going on now in the goalie rotation, 5-6 years. He could easily gotten a bonefied number 1 goalie in that time. What an idiot

The $850MM poison pill for breaking the lease isn't that poisonous, actually. -
I'll listen to what McDavid has to say about it. In the end he signed the deal and that's all that matters. There are certainly some concepts that cannot be applied any longer. There's no way to say McDavid's salary prevented building a winning team. He wants to win. I think he only has to look at the Panthers (who he has seen the past two finals) to understand that perhaps having the highest paid player in hockey is not the way to for a team to win a Stanley Cup. He's letting the Oilers go get resources and if they don't, he can demand the trade or wait it out. He's going to collect in 3 years.. one way another.
-
Also interesting to note he was drafted in the same round and year that we took Erik Portillo who gave us the college slip and has spent the last 2 years in the AHL. The might have been thinking about Ellis way back then. Don't know what the plan is. He could replace one of the prospect guys if they can slip him though. Seems kind of crazy to put him in the NHL right now.

Why, just the other day 😁

We agree that he's failed. I think PA mentioned he can't believe there's anyone left defending Pegula. I'm not. I'm merely pointing out the repetition is nauseating and really makes SS less than. In addition a significant amount of the complaints about Pegula are at minimum unsubstantiated then untrue. Are pointing these things out nauseating to you and others? Yes. So don't you get it - we're aggravating each other? It has almost nothing to do with Pegula. Id like to try and enjoy the start of the season and have some optimism. That angers you and many others. Almost every positive post is met with anger, thumbs down, insults, eye rolls and it's the same exact posters. You all have hijacked this site and made it miserable to read, let alone post. Well I have just as much of a right to post back and share my thoughts too. Can we not try to talk about other things? I try to but then I start getting frustrated again with the naysayers constant negativity. What Liger told Promo because he was being positive is actually quite crazy.

Bad game and it needs to be put away. The refs seemed to target the Bills and the calls were certainly not consistent but the Bills panicked at the very end and they failed to make the key plays need to win and run time of the clock. Just look at the last offensive drive - it ended with a Shakir drop followed by two broken plays with no one open, there is a cry for DPI on Shakir but no replays to verify what happened. We settled for 3 with lots of time for the Pats*. The last defensive series started with a missed sack, mostly due to the fantastic play by Maye, but a sack changes everything. After that play the defense failed to hold the tie and get the ball back in Allen's hands. If this game showed me anything it confirmed that the WRs and the secondary are just mediocre. We already knew this going into the season. Bills may have faired better with rookies Hairston or Dorian Strong, or maybe even J'Marcus Ingram. Too many times Diggs was matched up with Tre White and the results were not good.

McDavid extends for 2 years at $12.5m per year

Considering I read the average american (and probably canadians are close?) will earn somewhere around $1.6M for their entire working career ... i think they can ALL "afford" to leave money on the table. It would be even more interesting to see how the top earners from each sport compare to each other. Is it proportional to league average salaries? Proportional to TV contracts? Totally unrelated? -
Connor wants to stay. He’s the one who directed this contract and him only. Bowman is the recipient. CM is giving him two years extra to get them over the hump. If he doesn’t do it, McDavid is so gone after this extension. I don’t think this is a big wow on the GM. If CM wanted to be highest paid player, he’d be that. He’s driving this to help them get better.
