I'd never question Dahlin, or even Byram's offensive ability. Power has good offensive ability as well. I, however, want to keep the puck out of our own net. This is the time of year (every year) where the optimists try to convince me that the Sabres have lots of talent and players are really good and the stats say this or that and yet, they miss the playoffs the following season. Go figure. Our defense was not good. Still isn't good enough. and we are not a playoff team. When it comes to defensemen I am only interested in how they help keep the puck out of our net. The stats are very misleading. But we still have Samuelsson.

The analogy that you missed is we're better with Byram today because he's on our team.

Well Hague just got traded from VGK to Nashville and got a 4 yr deal at 22 million. I have watched Hague from when he was drafted until now. I was guessing he would get a raise to 4 million to maybe 4.5 but 5.5 good for him. He’s still young and has never really produced offensively and his skating is so so. The Golden Knights will receive defenceman Jeremy Lauzon and forward Colton Sissons in return. I have no faith in Adams to get back anything special from the Blue Jackets as I don’t see them moving out a good young player when they are pushing to make the playoffs. I would love Byfield for Byram. Seen tons of Kings games being here in Vegas and Buffalo might have to add something.

Even strength they were on the ice together for 35 goals for (offense) and 15 goals against (defense). 70% of the goals scored when Dahlin and Byram were on the ice together at even strength, were Sabre goals. That's really, really good. Also, why are you not including offensive stats in your evaluation of D-men?

Geekie had 33 goals. If he cracks 30 again that's a hell of a deal. More likely he's in the 20s but I'd still put McLeod a step below that. 4 million seems right to me for McLeod.

Apparently, GMKA wasn’t able to convince Peterka to stay since the trade deadline. Which RFA Sabre(s) switch to Walsh as their agent this season to prepare for next summer? Krebs, Benson, Doan, Kesselring?

Why are you evaluating defensemen by their offensive stats?

Walsh works for his clients to get them what they want. He didn't give a counter offer because JJ didn't want to be here. Why do you think he was feeding his stooge Fat Frank all of those stories?

I’m assuming they’re losing Provolov to UFA so they prob do need a dman. Provolov wouldn’t be a bad partner for Dahlin btw.

Columbus doesn't seem to have much that to want. I mean I'd love Kirill Marchenko but he'd have to play LW here or move Tage back to C but Columbus couldn't be that dumb? Jet Greaves save percentage been good as a backup but he still hasn't played 30 NHL games to date.

He seems like the perfect middle six forward...odd if Columbus moves him with the contract control they have

Well Jaro knows CLB well. Dmitri Voronkov Is the only LW of interest on their roster. 48 points last year, young (24) and huge 6’5”. Not sure he’s 1st line material and if CLB traded him their Laws would look hideous

If Mrtka was truly 7th on their board, and their top 6 went top 6 in the draft, then that means they had Mrtka rated higher than Hagens. Which is interesting. Not bad, necessarily. But I don’t think that would have been the case two years ago.
