First - Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to all of our Sabres fans in Canada. This afternoons matinee is to get more kids in the crowd but since many schools do not observe Columbus Day/Indigenous People Day that may not be the best planning. The good thing is that the Sabres wont interfere with me watching the Bills on MNF tonight. As for this team - they need to play 60 minutes if hockey and support the rookie in net. The western conference teams travel a lot of miles and they strive to get a win on their first stop of a road trip. Buffalo better be ready to play. I don't care about injuries, a win today is mandatory.

The fiip side of accidental tanks is they're often due to either injury, severely aged rosters, or incompetent coaching. At least 2 of which, if not all 3, can be cured by the time puck drops the 1st time next October. Should this turn into an inadvertent tank, it has 2 of those as the root causes plus an incompetent GM. Get a competent GM, get competent coaching, and you likely "luck" into better health as well. There are a lot of good pieces on this roster. It isn't a full tear down at present, nor should there be a full teardown. There should be an add to. And tell Dahlin and Thompson they can expect to play out their contracts here in Buffalo; if they have the sads because of that they can get a puppy. The Sabres no longer send very good to great players out the door simply because they've asked to do so or have driven their car through a Tim Horton's. I’ve written Norris off for the season and most likely his career with the Sabres. I drank cups full of hopium dreaming of a world where the Sabres finally got something right. Moving on from Cozens, who still looks like a net negative, was the right thing to do. It was a gamble bringing in Norris, and the Sabres crapped out predictably.

It sure does seem like they've quit on Ruff. Clean house. Now. Letting this fester through the entire season so everybody can be let go with no outstanding money owed will convert this from a single additional lost season into an additional 3-4 lost season affair.

That has ZERO percent to do with it. Effort/compete and talent have no correlation or dependency on each other. You can still play like you give a f**k even if you aren't necessarily good at it. Also, let's not pretend like this team doesn't have 2 elite players in Thompson and Dahlin who are plenty "good enough". It's hard to be this bad when you have two elite players along with enough supporting talent around them that seems to play well everywhere else.

I'm not dismissing that point... As that is part of the game day experience and yeah that needs to get better too. It's just I never really thought about it because as much as we complain about stuff like that and the arena and the seats... That is way, way down on the list of problems with the team at this moment. A two-game winning streak.. outscoring the opponents by five or six goals can turn opinions on the team around pretty quickly, but you're right, even the arena experience they can't get done correctly. I heard some people like the overpriced food though.

Me? I'll be in the air returning to Fort Worth after spending the weekend with my mom in West Seneca. I haven't seen any regular season games yet but apparently that's a mercy.
