  1. Past hour
  2. If you are saying that Pegula has operated the Bills in the same way he has operated the Sabres, you are off the mark. The models to be followed are the Bills and Bandits. You hire the right staff and allow them to do their jobs. The Bills and Sabres are two different entities with two different operations. Their individual record is a testament to the quality to each of their operations. One is a success and the other is not. At least for me, the reasons for the disparity in outcomes are not too difficult to discern.
  3. So if the Sabres finally do turn the corner, no credit will be given to anyone involved? What about the Bills? Are they just a happy accident? You know, anyone outside of our bubble would look at an owner with two champion caliber franchises and think they were pretty good.
  4. I'm not demoralized about our team's prospects for the season. I believe that if the Sabres get solid goaltending, we should be vying for a playoff spot up to the end of the season. But even if that is the case, there is no way that I'm going to credit this Pegula operated franchise as being a well-run operation. If you are a Sabre fan, the standard for success is a lot lower than for most franchises. And that is a shame. When you dumb down the expectations from a diminished fan base, it is not something to be proud of.
  5. Chicago's United Center has "bars" in what would be the 300's at KBC. They took out a couple rows in the corner sections. I could absolutely see a seating reduction in a renovated arena. 17K instead of 19K?
  6. But it makes a good story when they do. Chicago, Colorado, Edmonton, Florida as examples.
  7. Agree with this. When the Jays renovated Roger’s Centre they included a section where you get table service but it’s in the outfield. Not a couple of rows behind home plate. Would be great if the Sabres get good soon and start filling the rink again. They just put a new roof on and added the scoreboard. I can’t see a new stadium in the cards but add some major renovations over a couple of summers and that will go a long way. The team being competitive and bringing in more people / revenue will help the business case.
  8. For the past 3 years, when tage has been healthy, he has scored at a 50 goal pace. He is one of the premier goal scorers in the league. He has an elite hard shot, a pretty accurate shot, and even in tight areas. He is probably in the top 20 players in the league in creating his own opportunities. Take the fastest shot in the league, which is pretty accurate, add elite skills at generating your own shot... And you have one of the top 10, if not, top five goal scorers in the league. The only thing missing is the team around him to give him more opportunities.
  9. I think in some football or baseball stadiums, they have areas where they take out seats... Or seats were never put in and they have the concierge experience locations like you're mentioning. The thing is they don't have to be right down center ice, and a lot of those cases. They're tucked away in the corner or they take out the bad seats and put them in. The thinking is a lot of people who want to sit there... They want exposure to the game, but the experience is more important than being in the exact prime location. At least that's what I think I've seen on some videos of some of these new and renovated stadiums and arenas.
  10. This is Bryson and his 254 career GP erasure! If Bryson is the 7-8, Mrtka eventually gets sent down, and Muel continues to miss time... eventually Bryson will get in the lineup for the Sabres this season. And if he does, here are some folks who are within range for him to pass on the all-time Sabres regular season games played list: Darryl Shannon (255), Rhett Warrener (266), Pat LaFontaine (268), Rick Dudley (279), Matt Ellis (286)
  11. We are just going around the same block over and over. Let's see how the season plays out.
  12. Today
  13. My first "social media" exposure was detroit.freenet.org in the mid 1990s. Because it was still a local forum, we had meet ups once in a while.
  14. Eh. Getting intercepted deep on third down is kind of like a punt.
  15. You don’t need to follow the national or local media to form an opinion on the owner and the organization he assembled. When all is said and done the team’s record speaks for itself. You can’t hide from it because its existence is a non-erasable fact and not an opinion.
  16. Arch Manning, of course. I still believe Justin Fields could be a decent QB. He needs the same development track Josh Allen had.
  17. It's always a surprise when bad teams become good. Especially to national writers. They can't follow every team close enough to know what's going on.
  18. That's because Jack is just one piece of the Vegas machine. He's not the center of their universe like he was in Buffalo. I believe things would have gone far differently if McDavid were a Sabre, but then having Tim Murray as your GM is still a handicap. It's true the Sabres are not considered a well run franchise. But one thing I've learned about the media, especially the national sports media, is it's lazy. Once an opinion forms, it sticks. No one bothers to update it, especially when everyone just repeats each other. So things could change but you'd never know because of the prevailing opinion. And much has changed with the Sabres this year alone. It's better to follow local beat writers. And even then, few are any good. Bill Hoppe is probably the best since the late Jim Kelley. Sneaky Joe DiBiasi is one of the worst.
  19. It shouldn’t be s surprise that a long-term middling team that doesn’t do anything compelling in the offseason to change that perception doesn’t attract much scrutiny entering the season. Why bother? What the Pittsburgh Pirates are to baseball the Sabres are to the hockey world i.e. an afterthought. It’s a shame and self-inflicted.
  20. They're going to trade a fourth-round pick for Shedeur Sanders.
  21. I doubt it happens, he makes above league minimum too, although many teams have the space. Baby steps, KA caves in and waives him first. I would love him to get claimed, be done with him until his return tribute video that KA personally produces.
  22. So what kind of QB will the Jets be corrupting with their very early pick coming up in the draft?
  23. If you think we're a goalie away from being a playoff team, you do believe we're better than the Eichel years.
  24. Happy to see Penticton get promoted to the big league. Good for them.
  25. No matter how much you may dislike Tyreek Hill, it won't make you feel better about watching his leg injury against the Jets. Ouch town, population you, bro.
  26. I think Lindy is conveniently making space for Mrtka to get his nine games.
  27. These CBA-related rules? Yeah, they can’t just change them on the fly. The only thing you mention that was is the 2006 stuff. I don’t specifically remember what you’re saying, maybe that was the case, but I thought it was an issue where Darcy thought they’d handle it that way but was wrong. But if they’ve been told it will be in place, I’m good then. When it comes to how people are paid, it needs to be set in stone already at this point.
