Sabres turned down Rossi for Peterka swap
The Jokeman replied to Porous Five Hole's topic in The Aud Club
Especially with talk Rossi wants $7m per season. -
Whom do you propose gets top line C job then? I don't trust Norris to last more than 50 games his track record and we have little proven depth behind him.

I think it was getting an affordable RHD. As We're already over paying for Power and Samuellsson. While I would have wanted a little more as unsure Doan anything more than a 3rd liner if we can move Byram for a top 6 forward and a little more we might be improved so long as we address goaltender too either via trade or in free agency.

So it was Peterka that Seravalli was teasing with his Kyrou stuff yesterday. Lance sliding out the “driving teammates and coaches crazy with high-risk plays and lack of defensive effort” is interesting. Tracks with what I saw from him, tracks with the culture change stuff. Also tracks with the idea Lance is a shill and this is a narrative to cloud a penny-pinching motivation. The rest of it all ties with what I posted elsewhere about how the move fits into the big picture. Kyrou is an older, better slightly more expensive Peterka. Dobson an older, better, slightly more expensive right-handed Power. Is this Kevyn once again trying to prove he’s smarter by not chasing the bigger names? Forgive me for generalizing, but I think in general Sabrespace likes what Kesselring and Doan should bring but don’t like the hole the trade creates, or the idea the Sabres are going cheap again. How are they going to backfill the hole? Their other holes? Will they use the cap space? Going to be an interesting few days.

Whatever you say Homelander. Cope and seethe.

Kyrou is the player you hope Peterka becomes and is cost controlled through his prime years. Dobson would be the second best defenseman on the team behind Dahlin Since EEE went into effect the Sabres have not been overly active in UFA. Since the Hall signing, the organization rep around the league has gotten much worse, would Marner, Ehlers or Tavares even consider taking a call from the Sabres?

3rd or 4th line. I could see him on a 3rd line. He brings a bit of a physical game, correct? And in his limited time in the NHL, he has scored at a 16-goal-per-82 game rate. And that is with just 13 minutes per game. Best case reasonable scenario, give him 10% more ice time on a 3rd line role and he gets 20 goals for you (or close to it) while bringing a bit of a physical game. Again, I don't know his game all that well. But, if he can give you 15-20 goals....if he plays a bit better defensively than JJP and plays a bit more physical....is that worth the 10 goal per season drop from Peterka? Again, not knowing much about his current game style, you would think he would/could be physical, but he also hardly has any penalty minutes. Anyway, he comes to camp and competes for a spot. Competition, right?

Yes you nailed it
-
He won't be in Rochester.
-
I can see him on line 3: LW Benson C McLeod RW Doan

This is a bit stupid to be honest….clearly they don’t look at team needs at all! okay a team offered two first round picks, great, so we get pick 18 and 30 and 2 low level guys, doesn’t help us at all kyrou is older Peterka Dobson is older Byram that wants 10 million per year those don’t make sense! And for those that say take the picks and use them for additional assets, there has been very few first rounders moved for talent in the last few years, it just doesn’t happen much, so there is zero guarantee you can do that take the forsure thing that helps you now and gives you flexibility in cap space that now you can aquire a top 6 winger via trade or free agency

Any word on how much upper body strength he's developed / working towards considering lower body has been pretty much on hold? He needs to get comfortable with his shot. If he can do that, maybe he'll start to live up to expectations. (That and have somebody, clearly not a Sabre coach, but somebody, teach him that he doesn't have to ALWAYS DROP THE PUCK BACK 70'+ EVERY SINGLE TIME HE CARRIES THE PUCK ON THE PP.)
