  1. Past hour
  2. This isn't really accurate any longer. Zucker, Norris, Tuch, McLeod, Benson, Greenway, Kulich, Kozak and Malenstyn are all solid to excellent defensively. TNT and Krebs are improved. JJP is a work in progress, but is no longer a consistent liability. The forwards' d awareness really isn't an issue any longer. Now add that they were 10th in goals (only 2 goals behind the Leafs), 4th in 5 on 5 goals with 185 and 4th with 191 in all EV situations, the offense isn't the issue with this team, except the awful PP which is solvable with better coaching (IMHO). This past season with had 6 forwards score 20 plus (TNT had 44 and Tuch 36). We had 2 more score 15 (Quinn& Kulich) and 2 more score 10 (Krebs and Benson). We have plenty of capable scoring forwards. Benson and Kulich should continue to improve their scoring given their ages. The issue with this team is the 287 GA (4th worst in the NHL) - Bad goaltending and incompetent defensemen. Over the last 4 years the Sabres have allowed 287 (25th), 297 (26th), 243 (12th), 287 (29th). Our 114 GA over the last 4 years is 7th worst in the NHL over that period while our 1031 GF is 13th best. I repeat, the issues with this team are poor defensemen and goaltending. When Anderson and Reimer are the 2 best goalies over the last 4 years it's easy to ID that problem. Now add the revolving door of crap D besides Dahlin and that problem is also easy to identify.
  3. I am not sure that the Sabres forwards can hold off collapse until the post season starts. If one is inclined to point and laugh at the Leafs forwars for collapsing in the middle playoff rounds, how can you not look cross eyed at a Sabres forward group that couldn’t see this through the regular season? The forward group is skilled enough. It severely lacks guile, grit, and role players. This forward group is the most talented, least overall effective I can think of. It needs an enema just as the D and G do.
  4. Considering his TOI, I hardly ever hear Marner's name in the playoffs.
  5. FWIW- From coverage of his farming days, it appears the Martin family was doing quite well. But farming took priority over hockey.
  6. If you don't live amongst Leafs fans and their media, I can respect how you think we observers are just being petty. But when you're like me- a Sabres fan in Southern Ontario going back to the days when the Islanders were winning cups, you've seen and heard enough that this day is special. It's day when Sabres fans, Habs fans, Bruins fans, and anyone else from the area can come together as one... To celebrate another year of that oft talked about Yonge St parade not happening for another year. 🍻🥂
  7. Today
  8. And what a glorious, oh-so-Leafs elimination it was!
  9. Pack it up, pack it in... Let me begin...
  10. Well, unless he gets into at least 13 playoff games over the next 13.5 months, that bet is done. Still needs 95 more NHL games to reach the plateau with only 82 more RS games available for him to do it.
  11. I'm still on the Noah Dobson train.
  12. The part about swapping for the Leafs failures is laughable. The Bills are on the verge of a Super Bowl but some fans act like they are utter failures. Anything short of a title is unacceptable. As someone once admitted here, the Sabres making the playoffs would not change a thing. The point is to always be miserable about something.
  13. I’m nervous about McQueen’s injury. Given the usual inept management I’d worry they try to rush him. He needs to be able to get healthy and train to build up his frame a bit more before hitting the AHL. That being said, he looks like he would be awesome if healthy.
  14. There was rumours telling that at some point during the season, but I also remember hearing Kreider had some injury issues this season. Hard to know what to believe. A deal with both Kreider and Schneider could be a interesting package if Rangers really want Kreider gone.
  15. Dallas-Edmonton is an enticing matchup. Looking forward to that. Toronto is yesterdays news.
  16. Speaking of whom, @SDS should be getting nervous. https://www.sabrespace.com/community/topic/32104-rd-1-pick-9-matthew-savoie-c/#findComment-1508001
  17. A 100 point per year Selkie candidate would clearly be of no use to us...
  18. Marner, Ehlers, Bennett 1 of them would certainly help yes because adding an elite offensive talent to your forward group is just awful. Who wants 4 seasons of 97, 99, 85, 102 points added to their roster.
  19. Excellent review of value of an asset that should have multi-team interest.
  20. We also have assets such as prospects and draft picks to dangle. On the Quinn, Samuelsson and JJP availability I would rather keep them but that doesn't mean that I'm completely closed off to deals that give us a return that upgrades the roster. I would love to add players in the same mold of McCleod and Zucker to the roster. What did we give up for them? McCleod was added for a good prospect in a system that has other replacement prospects. How about scanning the RFA players such as Zucker whose cost would be less due to the contract status. We'll get a player, even if for one year, who is incentivized to produce the next season. It certainly worked out well for us with the Zucker transaction. What we need from this dullard organization is a little creativity and imagination from the front office this offseason. The problem is that so far KA hasn't shown that creative ability to make enough of those type of deals to sufficiently improve our roster better. As I have previously stated, I'm not advocating for a bonanza deal/s that strip the young talent from our roster. What I'm looking for is a number of medium B deals that better balance this incongruous roster.
  21. I haven’t seen any rumours, but I assume the Rangers are going to try and move Kreider. They found ways to move Goodrow and Trouba. Their cap issues would mostly be resolved if they can trade Kreider.
  22. Is that like A, B, C, D, F....and they are even worse than an F?
  23. Any thoughts on Matt Dumba? He finished the year hurt certainly obtainable. Other cheaper older guy might be Jan Rutta 34 year old UFA.
