I think players, too, are less likely to "play through" an injury nowadays and more likely to take time off to ensure proper healing.

Peterka with 3a last night. St. Louis has defense problems.

The 5 headed Goalie Monster - What is the solution?
Flashsabre replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
From Friedman’s 32 Thoughts: ” 12. Vegas will have a surprisingly interesting decision to make in goal. Akira Schmid is 4-0, coming off the bench for an injured Adin Hill as the Golden Knights became the first team to beat Carolina. When Hill is healthy and Carter Hart is eligible, will they carry three, make a move, or risk losing Schmid on waivers? He’s been excellent with his job on the line. 13. Similar situation for Buffalo. The Sabres brought back Ukko-Pekko Luukkonen after he stopped 21 of 23 in a 4-2 win Wednesday night for AHL Rochester against Syracuse. He rejoins early-season saviour Alex Lyon and Colten Ellis, who snared his first NHL win Wednesday. Considering the Sabres’ injury issues at this position, I could see them carrying three. They’re worried Ellis will be reclaimed by St. Louis if put on waivers and don’t want to lose him. Buffalo has a back-to-back with Toronto Friday and Saturday. (Toronto fans might be too distracted by some other sporting event to pour over the Peace Bridge.)” Trading a goalie might be tough with Vegas also in a similar situation. Doesn’t sound like they want to lose Elilis though. - Today

I've never had a Sabres sweater with a player name. But...
SabresBaltimore replied to PASabreFan's topic in The Aud Club
I have a Ryan O'Reilly jersey I think I got to wear to 1 game before they traded him. Never again. I'll stick to my Pominville jersey for the foreseeable future. I guess though if I got a free jersey for the current roster I'd probably be leaning Benson, so through a very short number of games Lyons and Doan are both candidates. But given my past luck, as soon as I get a jersey the player would be gone (or quit on the team) -
This is a big game. With how bad attendance has been, I expect Leaf fans will outnumber Sabres fans. I hope I'm wrong, but it's going to take a lot more winning to get all but the diehards back on board with this team, especially during football season. Winning both games this weekend would go a long way to building some confidence that the team is worth watching again, but got to split at a minimum. Curious who gets the start tonight. I was originally thinking UPL, but now I'm thinking Lyon tonight and Ellis tomorrow so they can see how the rookie does on the road before adding UPL back in the mix. Of course I wouldn't have brought UPL back from Rochester yet, so likely the Sabres have different plans.
-
It's dumb they didn't leave UPL in Rochester the max amount of time. I'd like Ellis to play at least 1 more game before adding UPL back to the mix. I'd waive Geertsten to keep 3 for the time being and hope we can move 1 of them by the time we have more guys ready to return from IR. Although I thought I saw Kesserling could be back this weekend, so even if they put Zucker on IR there will be some shuffling with Rochester to keep all 3 even for a short while. Not sure about Greenway. He's been skating with the team, but I haven't seen an ETA on his return. The rest are farther off as far as I know. Just another sign of mismanagement by Adams.

Some people become part of a 'club' or 'a team of their own' and can't say anything that goes against that narrative. Its becoming a bigger and bigger part of society. Lets say you are a fan of a particular player in a sport, a member of a certain political party, a fan of a team or a driver...maybe a fan of 'the Sabres will never be good" or "fire Adams and Ruff at all cost". In order to mentally stay in good standing with that 'club' or 'team' you belong to, it is very very hard to say anything against it.

The 5 headed Goalie Monster - What is the solution?
PerreaultForever replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
The solution is obvious. Fire Adams. Adams has shown he doesn't have a clue when it comes to goalies so he's just trying anything hoping something works. Lyon seems to have worked. So now there's a bunch of others. None of whom are sure thing starters long term. So put them on a dart board, close your eyes and keep the first two you hit 🙂 Me, I'm keeping Ellis and Lyon and if I can't trade UPL I waive him. Simple. If he clears Georgiev can go back to Russia or wherever he wants. -
Kind of must win. If you want to turn your season around and be back on course you beat the Laughs twice. A split maybe gives you hope. Two losses leads to a returned cynicism and being blown out well, we're back to nothing but counting how many days Adams has left. Leafs aren't as good without Marner. Doubt they are any better than Detroit.

Sabres among the teams to check in on Chinakhov

The bolded statement is the reason for the underlined statement...he'd fit right in with Greenway, Norris, and Samuelsson. -
And if you got better, you won the trade. There's just too many posters that refuse to say anything positive, even when they're trying to attempt to. It's like a phobia.
-
Bruins are atrocious. They are heading straight to the bottom. Ducks have some good young talent though. That team is on the rise for sure.

91 and Doan for me -
Small sample size, I get it, but Lyon 2025 >>> than UPL 2023/2024. And it’s not that close
-
Friedman in His 32 Thoughts column, feels they will keep all three and they do not want to lose Ellis on waivers

Adams offered Doan and a 1st for him. -
I would take Ellis off waivers. I wouldn't want either. I would add Korpisalo couldn't be moved either. There's no goalie market.

Why? He's played 4 years in the NHL already. Looks like a 30pt who can't stay healthy. -

Does Columbus need a goalie? -
Instead of saying ‘won the trade,’ I ask if we got better. And I think we got better with this trade.

The Sabres didn't play tonight, but have still had a great night. The Bruins, Red Wings, Panthers, Lightning and Flyers all lost in regulation. The Rangers got a loser point. The Habs are tied 1-1 after one. These are the huge opportunities you have to take advantage of to climb up in the standings. If we beat the Leafs tomorrow we would be ahead of the Leafs, Panthers, Senators, Bruins, Rangers, Flyers and Blue Jackets in the standings, and being tied with the Islanders for the second wild card spot (they would have a game at hand), all despite our three game losing streak to open the season. A big game early in the season! It looks like we would actually be 3rd in the Atlantic, above the wild card slots. edit - and a big comeback from the Oilers to take down the Habs in regulation finishes off the night.
