Good evening teammates, glad I had family commitments and missed this one. From reading the thread it was up, down, and way down. My first concern is goaltending, just like every year in the Adams era. A team cannot emerge to the next level without goaltending.

Lyon was fine this game - he had two weird goals against him, one that shouldn't have counted.

If it’s not instilled in preseason there’s no reason to believe it will be there in the regular season.

Yes, there is a consistency to the futility and the vision comes from him. I've said it before and will repeat it often. We all should have walked out the door with LaFontaine. He knew. He saw it coming.

I remember this team. They look exactly like last year and the season hasn’t even started.

That is the kind of sloppy, uninspired, and at times lethargic effort you get when you don't have any actual real job competition in camp. This team has way too many guys who look to the refs for help rather than battling through. Pens got the greasy, Sabres watched and complained about it. Nothing has really changed. This looks exactly like last year and it'll yield the same results. Maybe even worse, if injuries continue. Some will say it's meaningless games. Again, if you have access to replays, watch the meaningless game between Florida and Tampa from last night by way of contrast.

Don't worry. it's a long season. I'll get back to you by US Thanksgiving. Let's see where they stand again by that time.

Can anyone tell me what exactly Geogiev was trying to accomplish in OT? he's a big goalie, he doesn't need to take overt risks like Levi to make up for his size.

Georgiev’s preseason: .872 in 160 minutes of play. If you subtract the very first preseason game, 40 min and zero goals against, when he played the BJ’s AHL team, he's at .862. Levi should get any starts that were supposed to go to Georgiev.

Have to agree. I saw nothing this preseason that fills me with optimism for this coming season. I see the same team. Some of the players may have changed but nothing to indicate this is a big improvement. Really really hope I'm wrong but we'll know soon enough now. The Penguins back to back games really killed any optimism I may have had.
