His fiance is in Sweden? Woulda thought she'd be in Buffalo with him... that is, unless her medical condition precluded here from travelling after the heart transplant. -

Go Sabres. Get that first road win -
Whatever. The crux of the issue is Pegula has for the most part hired inexperienced people to run this franchise. Nitpicking. I'm basically going tank forward and they made Nolan a sacrificial lamb for the tank.

Almost time to think about Gavin McKenna?
PerreaultForever replied to Crusader1969's topic in The Aud Club
The NCAA thing is very valid. This is why McKenna is not exactly tearing it up this year as well. -
73 man/games lost to injury in 15 games

I know, but you wait. Once Adams has a presser he will use injuries as the excuse. It'll be a veiled we can't blame injuries but............. sort of thing. -

Dahlin is taking a leave of absence to return to Sweden
K-9 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Well, he has certainly looked distracted at times this season. More than I remember him being in the past anyway. Perhaps I’m seeing things and unfairly projecting this baggage onto him. -
Those three points are a screaming indictment of Joe Brady and our offensive quality control coach and their inability to self scout worth a damn.

I remember reading a scouting report on McConkey that said he lined up as an outside receiver nearly 80% of the time while playing for Georgia. I think there were two factors in him being projected as a slot in the NFL: his stature not being ideal for a boundary receiver at the next level and his off the charts quickness and route running that lends itself so much better to the slot.

Dahlin is taking a leave of absence to return to Sweden
Eleven replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
He was fine earlier this year. He was stellar in other years. My benchmark isn't Dahlin himself; it is the average NHL D-man. -

Do you mean continue as he always has been in previous years? Or continue to be what he was early this year. Because early this year, he wasn't 'fine', he was pretty bad at times: -This year one goal in 14 games, where he usually scores a goal at a rate of one every 4-5 games - a -11 through 14 games ( a 'pace' of about -60) The last 3 years, he was a +20 combined over 3 seasons. -5.43 giveaways per 60, when he normally averages about 2 giveaways per 60. -about 30% less takeaways per 60 than his average over the last 3 seasons -My 2 favorite analytics are expected goals for vs against, and actual goals for vs against. His xgf%is down 3 points. His actual goals is down almost 15% -And as many have pointed out on this forum, he is making several bad plays, noticable via the 'eye test' every game. You want him to be who he is, and he is more talented than anyone else on defense on this team, but his overall play/production, so far this year, actually has been pretty bad. -
Huge risk for Sabres as there’s little reason for Tuch to extend before going to free agency. Would have to be a (perceived) massive overpay or a complete reorg that he’d feel could make us competitive. Regardless, if he was my kid I’d strongly advise him to hold off until mid July.

Dahlin is taking a leave of absence to return to Sweden
K-9 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
This is the most probable outcome and I don’t think it bodes well for Dahlin’s performance if he’s on that kind of emotional yo-yo all season. -
Yeah, he may be my favorite Sabre right now. Unless it’s what he really wants, if they trade him for garbage, I’m done with this team.

K-9 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I’m not sure how any victory laps by you or anyone else would be in order as I don’t think anyone came close to suggesting Dahlin wasn’t coming back; just that it’s easy to see how he might decide not to for a while. If Carolina cannot travel for a year and frequent follow-up appointments are required in the first year after the procedure, is it unreasonable to think that Dahlin may choose to remain by her side until she is deemed medically in the clear? -

They miss Dahlin because of how good he is, but they aren't 'missing' how he has played this year. To be honest, his talent was not overcoming his bad plays and mistakes this year. The problem is no-one can step up into his role/ice time. Every time they give Byrum more minutes, it doesn't work. He has all the talent in the world, but the end result of him on the ice is an 'average-at-best' D-man, and when he gets more minutes without Dahliln, you are still getting nothing more than that 'average-at-best' overall game. Samuelsson is playing well his year, but his role and talent is limited. Power I think is playing a bit better than the consensus on this board, but that doesn't mean I think he is playing well enough to carry the team in any way, shape or form. Kesserling I need more time to watch, and he's getting back from the injury, but he hasn't blown me away with his game so far. Timmins is Timmins, he's a 3rd pair guy that is playing that role well (I think). This Defense group can actually be pretty good when Dahlin is being Dahlin. But he's not here now. And when he was this year, he wasn't himself. -

With the exception of Doan and Kozak, most of the guys on those forward lines have under-performed so far this year. Its not that they are all BAD, its just you expect a bit more from all of them. Its pretty sad to me that among forwards, onl Doan, Kozak, and Dunne are playing better than what I expected. That isn't translating to many wins because the expectations of those 3 guys weren't that high to begin with. (its no secret that Thompson, McLeod, Quinn, and Tuch are supposed to be forwards leading this team/producing, and they are all disappointing so far) Krebs. Positionally I think he's been playing pretty well. I think he has continued his progress from last year (compared to 2 years ago) where he doens't look lazy. He's decent carrying/passing the puck. The only difference I see this year compared to last year (where I thought he played well) is the lack of product. He hasn't scored yet. Peyton Krebs with 2, maybe 3 goals this year looks a LOT better than him having 0 right now. -
