He’s missing a lot in the courage department, shying away from contact and the dirty areas. When he does engage he may win 20% of the battles which feeds into him avoiding them. He skates well enough, handles the puck well and has a good shot but he needs a heart transplant. I still like him a little bit but he is frustrating to watch. I would move him for another Doan/Benson type of prospect.

Anyone who could have leaked that Adams firing is imminent would surely have to be part of a very small group involved in discussing it with Pegula. And if that's the case, you'd have to think the decision has already been made and the press conference scheduled. So, I'm not buying it.

If this happens I will have a beer or two tonight while watching the game. I rarely drink but this will be a special occasion. The outcome of the game will not matter to me because KA would be gone. I can see Jarmo as interim GM because TP wants to evaluate him some more before doing a thorough GM search. This would suck because Jarmo might be gun shy to do any big moves. I would bring in DeBoer before anyone else poaches him. Lindy can stick around in an advisory position. DeBoer can bring in anyone he wants. Every assistant needs to go. We are far enough from the draft that Forton can kick rocks. Karmanos can stay for now.

If used over the long medium to long term, I think you can get a good idea of a players offensive ability/production by combining (averaging) expected goals with average goals. Their defensive abilty by combining (averaging) expected goals allow with actual on ice goals against.......and their overall play by combing all of those things. I think that works well for the top 3 lines. 4th lines? not so much as situationionally they are often used much differently than the top 3 lines.

I am not saying one is better than the other. Just noticing that they are outliers on the money puck analytics expected goals for. Certainly it's better to have a 2 way player vs a one way player but so few players can score 25 goals in the NHL that no matter what else they do they are needed. The average is about 80 players a year score 25 or more and fewer than that can do it on a consistent basis. You can compensate with other players on the ice for the flaws of a high scoring player but it doesn't work the other way around. You can't compensate for lack of scoring in todays NHL. Cozens only scored more than 25 goals once so he is no Peterka or possibly Doan in that department.

I’ve heard from Fairburn that Jarmo is around a lot and that’s good. But it was noteworthy that Jarmo said he wasn’t relocating to Buffalo for his role as Advisor when he was hired. So maybe I’m taking an unfair shot.

If he gets Ws today and Sunday, those 2 wins combined with Edmonton cover him for the Monday-Wednesday off days. Then it all comes down to Philly. A win gets him through the off day, then he’s got the islanders. its a back to back, so he can recoup some ground with a win vs the devils the next day, keeping an extra “24 hours” in his back pocket gotta play the game but it can be done
