Maybe they would be willing to take a chance on UPL and give up a lot to get him, and if so, maybe a smart new Sabres GM could make that trade work for us? We would still have Lyon and hopefully Ellis will return healthy soon.

I still have little hope of any substantive change coming. Even “if” Adams is promoted to POHO, it doesn’t help much because he will still have too much influence on hockey roster decisions, which means more of the same crap. Jarmo as a GM will be powerless because he will still have limited ability to make coaching and player decisions. If Appert ends up the next HC in this scenario, then you know Jarmo has no autonomy to make his own decisions. Pegula has broken me and my belief that this team will ever a contender.
