Yep. If anyone wants to torture themselves, here is the press conference to announce the Granato firing. At around the 11:00 minute mark Adams is asked, by Yerdon I think, if he could have done more to give Granato a better roster to work with. Adams points out that he does not have a crystal ball and did not know Jack Quinn would get a 2nd injury. I mean, what can the guy do without the benefit of a supernatural tool to help him plan for the season?

Roughly correct. I don't like Zegras and I do wonder why Anaheim (who many people think are going to push for the playoffs now) decided he wasn't a fit for that so clearly they think he's a lost cause, but that's a low risk price for Philly. If Zegras can get it together now that's a heck of a deal for Philly.

How the Zegras trade ends up will be interesting to see. I've talked before about comparing Philly's rebuild with Buffalo's. We were skilled young players first and then build the culture and add leadership. They were build the culture first and then add the talent. It will be interesting to see if that culture (if it is rebuilt) can contain Zegras and make him into the player he's always had the skill to be but never shown the desire or work ethic to actually become. It was certainly a low price paid.

Given the Zegras trade that's more than enough but I'd still be fine with it. Rossi and Foligno for Byram I would do.

What I'm saying is Sam Bennett was not Sam Bennett when he was drafted and he became something else. The final version of what JJ Peterka will be is still unknown, that's the point.

Dabbling in hyperbole today are we? Everyone has been extolling his excellence when paired with Tage, I don't think this situation is that different beyond the fact that Tuch is a better player than MM was (which I already said). But he's also the kind of player who could either play another 10 years, or have his legs give out in 3. It's a risk. They should extend him because it's good for the team in the short term. But if they aren't sniffing the playoffs next year, they may be wise to use his good contract value and the raising cap to recover assets before it's too late.

This might just be the most insane thing ever uttered in the entire history of these boards. I couldn't think of any two players who could be less alike: Tuch is an excellent player, MM had a couple of good seasons being carried by John Tavares that fooled us into handing him a huge contract.

Maybe the Zegras trade puts to rest the idea that teams aren’t selling right now, but conventional reportage right now is that there’s not a lot of teams angling to be the seller in a Reinhart-type trade. Maybe there are teams looking to dump a Zegras in order to chase a Marner? I just think it’s unrealistic to see the Sabres as having the “winning bid” in 4 or 5 separate transactions. Especially if they aren’t including a Tuch or a Peterka or a Kulich in order to get it done.

I’ve said it a million times and they obviously agree,( in fact I’ve seen a definitive shift in how they’ve been operating in the last year or so, increasingly so, where they their thinking is starting to get well closer to mine, finally.) it’s a BPA offseason. We can, and should if possible, add everywhere the wish list says two top 6 forwards cause it should. It should read: 2 Top 6 forwards 2 bottom 6 forwards 2 top 4 D 2 goalies 2 bourbon 2 scotch 2 beer seriously tho. Ditch the guys WE don’t want to be here. A lot of those above names aren't all that great for me for Peterka. You don't have to trade Peterka, he's restricted. So, if you are going to trade him I am looking for 3 things with a player in return: -Makes the Sabres better right now than Peterka does (due to talent and/or fit) -Cheaper than Peterka (use the money saved in other places) -Makes the team better than Peterka in 2-3 years from now (talent and/or fit) You aren't getting all 3 of those, another team would be foolish to make that trade. But I want 2 of the 3 (pick whatever 2 you want). If you aren't getting 2 of those 3 things, they don't move him.

I can confirm the Pegula’s made their intentions known with the NLL a long time before today. “I can confirm there are local entities that have interest in keeping the team in Rochester,” Guelli said. “That’s the goal…The league is basically taking over those conversations, with the goal of getting someone in place before next season starts. They’re pretty bullish that they can get somebody in here and take over.” Personally, I think this franchise is cooked, unfortunately. They may play in ROC for one more year, but the love for this team left when the Hawks relocated the first time. It was never the same after that.
