  1. Past hour
  2. I have been saying this for quiet awhile. To the bold, it comes down to the vast differences between Adams/Granato and Beane/McDermott. I heard Adams in an interview years ago defiantly not own the Sabres drought. I totally disagree with his approach. Sean McDermott on the other hand owned the Bills drought. He said that although he wasn't here for it, he has to own it and so do the players if they are going to change it. Priority 1 for McDermott was to change it and make the playoffs, make the team "Playoff Caliber". McD put signs up everywhere and set the tone for better work and better preparation. Remember his saying about hard work and good preparation during the week was "earning the right to win". The leadership contrast between the two teams is polar opposite and I do not understand why Terry does not see it and fix it. The two sports may not have a lot in common operationally, but the things that winning organizations consistently do are very common.
  3. I just assumed it was the world’s longest hyperlink.
  4. I challenge everyone to find a trophy with a more badass name than that.
  5. Derek Roy needs a job in concessions inspecting all hot dogs and sausages.
  6. Amerks sitting for almost 2 weeks between games?? That's crazy! They really need to do a better job with their scheduling in the AHL, that's a joke.
  7. Today
  8. Steve Bernier - Patron Saint of fast starts and quick finishes.
  9. Ted Nolan- marriage counselor
  10. Brad Park - I saw him play for the Bisons in 1968. Very brief stint, got called up to the Rangers and never came back. Really a great player but he never got a Norris Trophy thanks to Orr, Potvin, and Robinson.
  11. Laval is the #1 overall seed. The Macgregor Kilpatrick trophy winner. The equivalent of the President's trophy in the AHL. Laval got to pick the series format.
  12. Thomas Vanek as FanDuel outreach liaison officer
  13. Thanks for bringing this up. More reasons to move on from Adams. What normal team pays VO $4.7M because they have to get to the cap floor and yet wont go out and get veteran help to fill obvious needs? Another blatant example of the Adams not doing the smart thing. Overpay mediocre players to get to your self-inflicted internal cap rather than improve the team with the same money. We needed a goalie and help on defense and still do. "No Blockers" strikes again. Analyzing the past two seasons can get sickening, just about every decision Adams made was unconventional and wrong.
  14. Man, missed a good ending. I'm working a rare day shift these days so I went to bed after the 2nd period. Good to se McJesus undress Eichel.
  15. Quinn was asked to do more, he played more games than VO, and played 2nd line a lot (too much). VO 56G 15G 14A 29Pts +17 VO had his first ever + season. Looks like Vegas got really good production out of VO in only 56 games. JQ 74G 15G 24A 39Pts -18 JQ had a rough year, seemed to be thinking and timid at times. Could it be a hangover affect from injuries? Could it be the new system? Could it be the malaise of playing on a bad team for 3 straight seasons? JQ struggled a lot early and mid season, he got better towards the end of the season playing less minutes and on a lower line. I don't have the analytics but I will bet he looked bad when paired with Cozens. Is anyone really surprised that VO has a good season for Vegas? Vegas has better everything than Buffalo. Their owner set winning as a priority, not just a slogan. He gets the best he could and he does not stand pat. They have one of the best FO's in the league. They are a good model to follow on how to run a hockey team.
  16. Peyton Krebs would be probably be the best comparison. He suffered a laceration to Achilles tendon about a month before the draft.
  17. Go to Edit an look at the top left for these symbols: B I U S => These are used to change text to select bold, italics, underline, and strikeout. You accidentally selected underline. The selectors work like toggle switches. Highlight all of your underlined text and then select U and the underline should go away. Select again and it returns.
  18. Where did you come up with that implausible figure? Stay away from those conspiracy sites. You are being captured by the zany world of basement people.
  19. In retrospect, the owner’s hiring of KA was insane. The primary reason to bestow this challenging job to someone so ill-prepared for the most critical job in a hockey franchise is that it gave him more unchallenged space. Unsurprisingly, the ugly results followed from there. And it shouldn’t be a surprise that our fool owner continues to keep this failed GM in his position. In a normally run franchise it would make no sense. In a Pegula franchise, what is odd to most people is normal to this diseased franchise. I just wish this fool owner would get on his big boat and sail off into oblivion. He has crippled this franchise and snuffed the life out of this once vibrant but now moribund fan base. note: I didn't intend to underline my post. I don't know how to undo the underlying.
  20. Wheeler put Helenius in a tier with Martin for ranking centers across the last 3 drafts. Something for ppl to think about. "A fourth tier would include Brady Martin (likely at the front of it), Dalibor Dvorsky, Konsta Helenius, Michael Hage, etc." https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6342331/2025/05/09/matthew-schaefer-porter-martone-nhl-draft-2025-mailbag/
  21. I remembered that there were reports on what Granato was making. So I looked that up and found a number of sources that report Granato’s extension lifted his annual salary to $1.9 million. So, Donnie did ok. A reasonable bet is that Adams makes north of that.
  22. TBH respectable GMs would jump at the opportunity to turn a franchise around. It's just Pegula.
  23. Why is Kevin Adams still GM...to answer the original question? Terry Pegula likes him. Adams lets Pegula 'feel involved and heard' when Pegula wants to be. Adams likely never tells Terry he's wrong. When things go wrong Terry can go hide in Florida and Adams is there to take all questions and defend Terry and tell the media how great Terry is as an owner. Adams is still GM for no other reason than Pegula wants it that way.

  25. Not the higher seed. Laval had the choice of 2,2,1 or 2,3. If 2,2,1 they would start at home. Sometimes it's about conflicts with the arena.
  26. So was Rochester the higher seed? If so, I think I would have picked 2 on the road and then 3 at home. I have to believe I could get a split at Laval and then only need 2 out of 3 at home, no?
