  1. Past hour
  2. 2 observations. 1. This is what goalie purgatory looks like. 2. Shiny new toy syndrome strikes again. We have two goalies with performance we can use to predict outcome. Unfortunately, the data for both is mixed. Lyon seems to be the one most likely to succeed, but his past doesn’t seem to be great predictor of it. UPL has had flashes, but his consistency and injury history makes it all but impossible to rely upon. Yet he is the one with textbook size and reflexes. And the shiny new toy that everyone wants to cheer for has no past to speak of. He is the definition of using hope as a plan. i think there is no choice but to run a 3 headed monster again. Gat dam is this team badly mismanaged.
  3. Maybe a younger Zucker????
  4. Apparently Doan jerseys are sold out at the Sabres store. They will have more tomorrow. Did Peterka jerseys ever sold out? If not than Doan wins😛😁 I think Doan will be a fan favourite in short order and future Captain like his dad.
  5. Wait….. is Dudacek taking a conditional nap?
  6. Carrying three goaltenders because the GM can't figure out how conditioning assignments work is not a "good problem to have."
  7. thanks. the science of the study i was referring to was fascinatingly nuanced on this subject. and it wasn't just mercury they were testing for - there was some other bad stuff that i can't recall (study participants gave periodic blood samples). i just found the paradox compelling: the scientists went into the study fully expecting the data to overwhelmingly advise against people eating certain fish out of certain great lakes and related waterways ... but the science wound up being more mixed than they'd expected. and they followed that science.
  8. And if UPL does NOT regain his 2024 form, the team appears to have solid alternatives (although it's too soon to know much about Ellis and even Lyon's sample size is small).
  9. I'll say. With the back to back Toronto games he should use Lyon and Ellis. Bringing up UPL means someone, possibly a forward, has to go.
  10. Well that's horrifying.
  11. Because Adams is an idiot who can't even figure out how to take advantage of a conditioning assignment for a single weekend.
  12. not that this should matter much but UPL has 5 team no trade clause next year so this is the year to move him potentially
  13. ....and the Sabres have never have misjudged the talent on the roster.
  14. there is NO level of mercury that is safe for your body. And trust me you don't want to have mercury overload...it's often called the "Great Imitator" because it can mimic many other issues like MS, various autoimmune diseases, etc.. I actually had that due to a mouthful of old metal fillings that have mercury in them that were cracked and "leaking" mercury every time I took a bite of food. Got them all out via a holistic dentist, had to undergo a lengthy chelation process to get rid of the mercury stores in my body and am feeling pretty great now still about 15 years after all of that. With fish, the main problems are the larger fish that eat smaller fish that eat smaller fish, etc...that causes a bio-accumulation of mercury in the large fish, like tuna who gets all the mercury from the other fish. Tuna is OK once a week or so, but other smaller fish like chub mackerel(not king which is among the highest for all fish), sardines or salmon are safer to eat.
  15. Today
  16. If UPL regains his 2024 form, it's a good problem to have. Lyon has been great so far and Ellis looked very good in his single appearance. While managing 3 is not great, I'd rather the team be managing 3 good players than having to debate the likes of Carter Hutton, Houser, etc. (no disrespect to Houser intended, who was a good story). Not sure if I want to throw Comrie onto that list, as he's a good fit for Winnipeg as a backup, but he was pretty bad in Buffalo.
  17. The thread is not premature. I wrote it. I used words like "so far," "small sample size," "if...turns out to be," "don't want to be unrealistic," etc. The idea was to take the temperature of the board on the comparison as it sits right now. As a fan that's watched a few games so far, the thought has crossed my mind how Doan's impact & value compares to Peterka's, and based on the responses, it appears to have crossed others' minds too. While Doan is more than a "throw in," it's not really debatable that Kesselring was the main piece coming back to the Sabres in the trade. If Doan brings more to the team than Peterka brought, exclusive of what Kesselring eventually brings (or doesn't bring, as may be the case), it would be pretty remarkable. And, based on what we've seen SO FAR, it's entirely possible.
  18. This is vague but I am intrigued, are you thinking they are playing UPL one of the games to show an acquiring team he is good to go? And how would you know they arent parting with Lyon or Ellis soon? I mean that is the smart thing to do,
  19. KA is up to something, because i know they are not parting ways with Lyon or Ellis anytime soon.
  20. Just crazy! Why 3 goalies again?! This team cant stop shooting itslef in the foot
  21. When the Athletic rates prospects, one of the factors they name and consider is "Compete" which I would equate to "Motor." Doan has it in spades and the Sabres have lacked players with it for years. Benson has it too. While talent cannot be overlooked, the Sabres have had plenty of talent over the years, but severely lacked in compete. The best players in the NHL are those that have both. Guys like McKinnon, the Tkachuk brothers, etc. I hate Marchand, but he has both too. McDavid is top of the talent scale and seems to have the "Motor"/"Compete" as well.
  22. This is what I don’t understand. It sounds like he is not waiver exempt. STL tried to send him to the AHL and we claimed him. So, wouldn’t he have to go through waivers again if STL tried to send him to the AHL?
  23. From what I've seen/read, he's expected back sometime in November, probably later in the month. I can't say how accurate that is, but that's what I've seen out there.
