  1. Past hour
  2. Been seeing some rumors from St. Louis (My best friends team) that they are hearing Byram for Jordan Kyrou.....
  3. How will Adams blow this next trade, remember when Darcy Regier wouldn’t make trades unless he was getting the better deal!
  4. Isn't it Kellersing? Sorry, not picking on you, just laughing at how it seems pretty clear we have another Byrum (my personal trap) or Reinhardt on our hands.
  5. KA blew his wad. Done with trades.
  6. I wonder, if all these players saying, I don't want to be here, has anyone asked them why? What is the reason...
  7. 5x7.7mil would put it at compensation of a 1st, 2nd and 3rd So perhaps we need to view the return through that lens Would we rather have Kesserling + Doan or Utah's 1st, 2nd, and 3rd next year?
  8. I get it, trying to predict the future. I try to look at what the players have done in the past.
  9. Interesting theory, although it seems it would have clearly involved tampering of some sort. I would imagine prospect-loaded Utah would have rather given up the picks, so I guess in your scenario Adams would have used the threat to match as leverage in order to get what he wanted, which reports seem to indicate was very clearly Kesselring?
  10. The deal is based on an offer sheet. Offer sheets usually max out at five years. You can't spread the money out more than 5 years on an offer sheet. Armstrong probably let Adams and Peterka's agent know he was going to offer sheet Peterka. He let Adams know the number and Adams didn't want to pay , and didnt want the the draft pick compensation, so they figured out a trade. After the trade, Utah still had to sign Peterka, so Peterka's agent probably held them to the offer sheet numbers. Peterka could have refused to sign a longer term contract, and would have still been open to offer sheets from other teams.
  11. I meant ticking on the prediction of a trade pre-draft. We might very well keep him. But it's also ticking on trading #9.
  12. I guess the best thing about O'Brien is that he addresses the organizational need for playmaking centre even though he superficially might look like a "more of the same" pick.
  13. I view this as part of a double trade with Byrum. Perhaps they felt by acquiring the RHD for Peterka, they could get something more valuable for Byrum which means the overall value of the combined haul they get would be better. I don't think we can look at this trade in a vacuum.
  14. One of the Insiders (Dreger?) gave some insight on how the issue with Byram is not really a long-term offer sheet, its about his willingness to walk himself to free agency. Sounds like he may be perfectly happy to sign a one or 2 year deal with Sabres or elsewhere. What Bo wants most is apparently not money or location, its role and fit, and his willingness to sign a long-term contract is tied to that. That matters to the Sabres as they consider his future, but it also matters to the team that acquires him and may affect trade offers. Personally, I'd set the trade bar at the equivalent of the 1st, 2nd 3rd offer sheet level. If someone offers that, or offer sheets him, I take it. If they don't, I give him a 1- or 2-year deal to play on the 1st pair with Ras and see how things play out.
  15. I think tampa moves Bjorkstrad, McDonaugh, and sheary if they're looking to move people. 6.5M for 90 points is a bargain. Colorado's going to move Necas if i had to guess? He probably wants to get to UFA status next year and won't extend but it fills the top 6 void, and buffalo has guys who they'd probably be interested in. Petterssons a tough decision - you have gotta feel really good about him as the player he was before last year.
  16. I think they take a centre: O’Brien, Martin, McQueen whichever one is there. Jay McKee coaches O’Brien and Leenders was his goalie so Buffalo will have a lot of viewings/intel on O’Brien
  17. I agree that I think they take Smith if he's there at #9, with his Penn State connection. I'm not as sure he'll get to 9 though, as I read an article yesterday saying "teams that passed on him will look silly when he wins the Norris is 5 years." We suddenly have decent organizational depth at RHD now. Other guys I's like at 9 are Bartone and Martin.
  18. Sal just had Belle Fraser on from Utah talking about the trade and that was a great listen.
  19. That's too bad. The EBUG has provided us with entertainment once in a while.
  20. Wonder if the Dobson trade is affecting Byram talks? Gotta be an overlap in interested teams.
  21. A lot of comments about wanting more for the trade... Yeah, any trade you make you always want more. How often does a trade get made and if something else would have been thrown in we wouldn't have liked it? But I think part of that comes down to Peterka having a bigger name, and having a better stat sheet. I'm not saying that he's not the better player of the trade... But sometimes when someone has a bigger name or a more impressive stat sheet, they're not always the better player. Anyway, I'm trying to look at this positively but do I like to trade? Overall, Yeah. Why? Because it's likely a couple new players were going to have on the team we didn't have last year. Short of winning... Or scoring a ton of goals... having new faces on the team and seeing how they integrate into the team gives me something to look forward to watching.
  22. I was looking at puckpedia to try and find a comparable contract? I guess Byfield in term, but his cap% at signing was 7.1% vs. 8.1% for peterka? Johnston got a bit more, but he's a center who scores more than JJP. Beniers had more term too.
  23. KA is celebrating this landslide victory for his trade! He's touting this as proof of his superior leadership and hockey acumen! LOL
  24. I think one thing to think about if they use 9, is that mrtka isn't as important to Buffalo with Kesselring in the fold. Jackson Smith has really slid in consensus rankings so he's gonna be available.
