  1. Past hour
  2. I don't care how much O Muel contributes, this will always be my favorite interview moment (to about 2:10).
  3. He's held his own but really hasn't shown he belongs even in a middle six role to this point. I think he might be solid middles six when he's ready but he's just not ready yet.
  4. Ah, but UPL with his salary probably would clear waivers. Just sayin'.
  5. Great effort! They're firing on all cylinders even without a healthy Bo and Springer out of the lineup. Their biggest weak point all year was the bullpen, but adding Bassitt and Lauer to the mix has been huge. Varland and Hoffman rounding into form has helped a lot too.
  6. This is the way. I really think one of our 5-headed goalie monster is destined to be part of a trade. My gut feel is that they want to give UPL some visibility not to so much show what he's capable of, but to demonstrate to a potential suitor that he has recovered from his injury. He's played well in stretches and might be worth taking on (if the Sabres retain) to see if a change of scenery unleashes his potential. Another scenario is to work him back in as a back up and if he pulls his weight then trade young Ellis. But either way, I can see Levi being disgruntled. It isn't just that UPL is ahead of him in the pecking order, it's that the organization brought in two more goalies and he is definitely behind Lyon at this point, and likely behind Ellis in terms of depth. I know they can't move Ellis to the AHL without clearing waivers so it might be that in the overall scheme of things Levi is ahead of Ellis in terms of what the Sabres feel about him but due to contracts he's stuck in the A.
  7. That was fantastic to see the Jays take two of three in Chavez Ravine. What poetic justice it would be to see them chase Yamamoto and wrap it up in Toronto in game six.
  8. Today
  9. I'm enjoying the fact that they're competitive. They've been in every game. They've had better starts at home, and their home record is much better since Jan 1st. PK is 1st in the league and the PP doesn't stink. Lyon is playing well in goal. Taking steps in the right direction, the points will come if they continue to focus on the details. I wouldn't say "they're for real" yet, but I'm encouraged.
  10. You can often see a lineup sheet listing the officials taped to the glass behind the Sabres' bench. Why? I have no idea.
  11. Congrats on the first post Peters
  12. Career touchdowns: Worthy: 7 in 23GP Coleman: 6 in 20GP 🤷‍♂️
  13. Maybe give him the first batter of the 8th, he's in a zone and Jays pen kinda blows.
  14. Nope. Don’t care
  15. I love Yesavage, how could one not, but Schneider will be making another mistake if he leaves Trey in for the 8th and 9th.
  16. Dodger all star team losing to a pitcher making $800k
  17. Yeah I'm aware. On the plus side, the Jays are killing it tonight.
  18. Jays hammering the Dodgers again...
  19. Love to see LA lose at home tonight
  20. Surely some know their names, but not this kid (at least not many of them). And yeah, that's a shame, as they are a significant portion of the game. But the refs and the league preferred for them to be anonymous, thus taking their names off the backs of their jerseys and giving them numbers instead.
  21. How does that solve too many goalies issue?
  22. The question was about last season.
  23. Does anyone even know who the refs names anymore? I’m old and I can recall Hood, Armstrong, McCreary, Friday, Van Hellemond, Harris, Lewis, McCauley, and even linesmen like John D’Amico and Ray Scampanella. The Refs names were announced at the Aud by Milt Ellis, and on airwaves by Ted and RJ. It was part of the event.
  24. Lankinen is the only “back-up” goalie I can think of who signed that level of contract. The other goalies who are back-ups and make UPL or better money, are guys whose games have fallen apart (Grubauer, Merzlikins, Jarry). Maybe Lankinen’s deal is an indication of where back-up goalie salaries are headed with an increasing cap. a 4.75 AAV is still a little rich for a back-up though, I think.
  25. By points percentage. Not by points. Needed to not just outplay the Wild the day before but actually beat them to have been able to say they were there by both metrics on Eat Turkey/ Watch Football Day.
  26. FYI: for everyone who thinks UPL's contract makes him unmovable, Elliotte Friedman called UPL's deal "at par with an NHL backup."
  27. All it takes is one of the subs that make up that consortium to be willing to offer a policy and then there's a policy. (Lloyd's is a really interesting entity.) And, don't see any reason why at least someone wouldn't be willing to write up a policy. There is a cap to what the full payment would be. We're talking salary insurance, not health insurance which he already has through the league's group policy. So, the only question in setting a premium is having an actuary determine what the likelihood of him suffering a significant injury is. And, again, it very well might not make sense from the Pegula's perspective to get insurance for his contract because it will be extremely expensive. Though they MIGHT have gotten it after he'd been cleared as fully recovered from the shoulder and abdomin injuries and it's also possible that the contract was already insured by the Otters back when they gave him the LT deal. Recall, LaFontaine's contract had been insured back in the day and the Sabres collected on the policy; even after he'd suffered some pretty severe injuries.
