That's how I feel. Especially in their barn -
The obvious move is a new owner. OR, he steps away from Hockey Operations entirely. I prefer he sells the team to group committed to Buffalo. Every move that Terry has made has been the wrong one. From Terry's very first and extremely obnoxious press conference displaying his brash overconfidence, and crying in front of Alumni, to his constant hiring of buddies and unproven people that he can influence. From losing on purpose to putting his wife in charge of a hockey team that just tanked and needed experienced FO help in the worst way. From casting away NHL All Star level players, to his 180 degree flip to "Economic, Efficient, and Effective". Hiring a soccer coach. Hiring a GM with no Hockey Operations experience. The worst part is that Terry Pegula quit on us and he settles for losing. He has poisoned the culture and disgraced the crest. He hides from the hockey fan base. Flies to Montreal, give a "pep talk", the team skips practice and gets trounced - another season ruined. His worst offense is hiding from the fan base and doing nothing to fix the mess. Need I remind everyone that last season the Boston Bruins finished 3 points below the Sabres and last in the conference with a -50 goal Diff. Their owner sent a apology letter to his season ticket holders with a commitment to improve. The Boston Bruins do not have a better or more talented roster than the Sabres. Yet they are right now 2nd in the Conference and the Sabres have dropped to last. It starts at the top. I believe the "rumor" that Terry told Brendan Shanahan he was the teams POHO. The Sabres will never win with Pegula running the team they way he does. He needs to stop pretending he is a hockey guy and let a proven hockey guy run things, and give him all the resources that he pledged to us. Drill another well Terry.

500 or under .500 -
Some people think Pegula meddles too much. Others think he's not involved enough and is invisible. Some people think he's handed out too many big contracts to undeserving players, others think he doesn't spend enough. I don't know what's true. I do know that the team has failed to achieve success in a very long time. I believe that if and when the right management team is in place (GM and coaching staff, and maybe a POHO who hires the GM or both), the team will be fine. Whether Pegula is the owner or not, that's what's needed. While the Bills are having a slightly "off" season, they are viewed as one of the top organizations in the NFL. Terry Pegula is the owner. I believe that the same can be achieved with the Sabres if proper management in place, whether Pegula is the owner or someone else. I prefer to stay with Pegula, as we know he'll keep the team in Buffalo. A new owner might not. In addition, Pegula could make a lot more money with the Bills and/or Sabres in a larger market, but has stayed loyal to Buffalo. While the long run of bad hockey is really difficult to live with, the loyalty to a small market is very meaningful, in my opinion.

What is the jolt this franchise needs?

As much as I have crowed about Terry selling the team, it would in all likelihood mean the end of NHL hockey in Buffalo. We as fans have not seen a real NHL hockey team (always competitive or at least always entertaining hockey games) since Terry became owner. Can new ownership with a different outlook bring hockey fans back to Buffalo via a kick ass AHL franchise and would it be enough to keep those hockey fans engaged and happy? What's better, a chronically bottom of the barrel NHL team or a top notch premier organization in the AHL? -
The SSA says Terry is expected to live another 11.something years. Enjoy.

I'd love to have more daring dreams but I really just can't see any conceivable way the Sabres sell their team and stick around in perpetuity. Our best bet is that Pegula's children do better in the future

I’m glad in working tonight. -
This is how it always works "don't dare dream for something better, just be glad you don't have it worse (while it gets worse anyways)".
-
Zach Benson is 3rd on the Sabres in assists. He's so defensively sound that he is the literal best player on the team in terms of shot suppression metrics. In fact the only bad play I can even remember him making in his 14 games is the pass into Tage's tush.
-
I can honestly never get that far I'll always be loyal to the Buffalo Sabres but that doesn't mean I'm not livid with the ownership and how its been handled. It all comes down to, that while we always have small chance of making the playoffs under Pegula; it isn't 0% which would be the case if we lose the team.
-
My issue is at this point where they are trying to salvage their season, they need to be playing the guy who gives them the best chance at a win. If they're playing someone else simply to showcase him, that's a mistake. And if that best chance at a win is also the guy they're showcasing, he shouldn't be on the block at all.
-
Fair enough. You are the fan Admiral Pegula loves because it appears you'll be loyal no matter what. I'm not saying it to criticize, just to categorize. I'm 99% out the door on giving a damn about this team, once I hit 100% it won't matter to me where the team plays because I won't care any longer.

No unless I know the team is staying here

The Sabres play again? -
Benson and Doan may be playing higher in the lineup than they should, but they are not the problem on this team. Doan is performing on any line. Benson seems to have cooled off after a good start. His playing on the first line and having 0 goals at this point in the season is a problem. Benson does not have an NHL shot. Hate to say it, he is a good player, but the fact that he is one of the teams better options to play on the first line is a problem. I look at teams like Utah and the Ducks. Even Montreal and Philly. Why are they better? Is there really much difference in the talent on the rosters of these teams? I think not. The Sabres just give up too many goals and it is not all on the goalies. The team makes way too many mistakes in their own end. I think the Utah coach is getting all there is out of his young and improving roster. Joel Quenneville is getting everything out of the surprising Ducks roster. Martin St Louis is getting everything out of a middling Habs roster. Lindy Ruff is not pushing the right buttons. He seems just as defeated as the players. You can tell by the Sabre Power Play that this coaching staff is not good enough. But the big problem is goals against. Like the TNT guys said, and Biz has been very negative about this team, the Sabre take plays off and they take short cuts, and they get burned by it over and over again. The TNT cast pointed put that none of the defense other than Dahlin will even hit the other team. No forwards have any fear playing deep in the Sabres zone. Lundqvist was trying to be nice but said it clearly - they can't figure out how to defend because its hard and too many of their players don't want to play that way. Sure, they have a lot of talent but they don't play the game the right way. They can fire Ruff but they will likely just hire another coach that is in lock-step with Adams, the creator of a poorly constructed and mentally weak team.
-
What if you knew that under Admiral Pegula the Sabres would never make the play-offs? Would that change your mind? The whole ownership debate simply boils down to when has each person had enough. Frankly, I'd rather they sell the team and let whatever happens happen than be the damned laughing stock of the league. I have Sabres gear, do you think I wear it when I travel? Hell no. It's embarrassing. That's what the good Admiral has done to this franchise and thus to the fans of this franchise. Do you think this franchise is worth a investments in Key Bank Center? Why should a franchise that owns the league record for not making the playoffs and continues to extend that lead deserves taxpayer support? Right now the Buffalo Sabres organization is unworthy and it has been unworthy since Pegula took ownership. I'm done with him and his whole family.

The Devil I know is better than the one we don't far more often than not No sale is worth it if the likelihood of the team moving is there
-
The fans of the Sabres have not had an NHL team to root for in 15 season now. Stop being afraid of the unknown. The known is enough to be afraid of.
-
Other than the obvious priority of cleaning the entire house of KA and the entire coaching staff, I think a necessary jolt for this inconsistent team would be hiring a head coach who is in the mold of someone like Iron Mike Keenan. He might have coached like a borderline psychopath, but he was very effective at making his players do what he wanted them to do. I remember hearing how scary he could be to play for. Hopefully there is a potential head coach out there for us who can get it through to our players that they better follow orders or else.

The Jacobs family are one of the most powerful families in the NHL. Jeremy is on the board of governors. When he approves the relocation of the Sabres to another city, that’s when I’ll believe it. Billionaires don’t get to simply decide to pack up and move a team.
