  2. My buddy has been at his job for 30+ years and is given all kinds of special assignments and temporary roles. He cannot get a permanent supervisor position because he is a white male and they are trying to diversify their company. He gets passed over and then is asked to “mentor” the new boss. Some of these new bosses have 2-3 years of experience.
  3. Here’s the thing about the NHLPA resetting the market: The players are getting 50% regardless, every extra dollar McDavid squeezes out of some team is just a dollar less for the Justin Danforth and Conor Timmins of the world. No skin off Bettmans ass.
  4. Decent roster for the Dead Wings, it will be a good test for the young Sabres/Amerks.
  5. Gonna be a run on contracts that blow peoples minds today and look like bargains in 2 or 3 years. Might be in Tuch’s best interest to follow Byram’s lead and sign for a year or 2. Still think Power’s contract has the potential to look like a major steal at the back end.
  6. Yep. This is 1000% the case. I’m very adept at my job. I just received a sizable bonus and raise because of my work performance. I have been passed over twice for the job a level above mine because I don’t always play nice. I’m definitely viewed as a gruff callus individual at work. I look like I eat babies for lunch. So, when a cute little old lady is up against me for the coveted position, they take grandma Betty over serial killer looking inky. Honestly, I never in a billion years pictured I’ve have the job I have let alone in position to be promoted yet again. But here I am, neck tattoos, substance abuse problems be damned, I understand why the company went in a different direction. I don’t kiss ass. I’m incapable of it. I hold a large amount of disdain for the “suits” upstairs. They know it and don’t want to include me in their reindeer games. I’ve accepted this is likely where I’m going to max out. I’m good with it. I make good money and enjoy my job thoroughly.
  7. Interesting to see Bernard-Docker in the Wings' lineup. He played pretty well for the Sabres last season which may have helped tilt the Cozens trade in the Sabres' favor if he had a successful career in Buffalo. Then they let him walk to go sign with Detroit for around league minimum (1 year, $875K), while re-signing Bryson instead. I thought I read somewhere that B-D was not interested in re-signing in Buffalo, and if that's the case, OK, but if the Sabres elected to let him move on, I consider this yet another blunder by the organization.
  8. People that I would trust with my life tell me this deal was done and than it wasn’t. My feeling, with no collaboration, is that NHLPA, is pushing these guys to reset the market. I think I posted earlier that there is talk of a $150M cap in the not too distant future and players don’t want to be making $9M when players start earning $20M.
  9. Power should have never started that first season Dahlin should never have started his first season either. Quinn was not ready Don't even get me started on Devon Levi
  10. Today
  11. Article was posted 20 days after the arrest. To me that fits with the brass meeting the day after to figure out what to do, and Jarmo saying "I know a guy".
  12. The translated article quotes Ruutu: “I was contacted by Buffalo a couple of weeks ago, and that's really where it all started,” So it seems that this the may have been in the works earlier than a Ruutu announcement might imply. Mair was arrested on 9/4 and the new broke around here with Mair's suspension on 9/11.
  13. I’ve read several posts alluding to Helenius being a message to Quinn, but I don’t see it currently. They play two different roles on the team imo. If a message is being sent, and I don’t think one is, I think the big use of Helenius in these games would be to send a message to 4th line, marginal players. I think Sabres brass wants an extended look just to get a feel for where he is as they test him. I liked Lindy’s coaching moment the other night when after Helenius took a late penalty in a one goal game, Lindy thought I can bench him when he gets out of the box or I can see how he responds. Lindy chose the latter and we all saw how well Helenius responded by leaving everything on the ice while killing off the six on five to end the game. He’s got 1st call up written all over him.
  14. Story also says both sides leaning toward long term, sense is that this gets done, but nothing is imminent. It's basically about the rising cap and what's fair under the re-setting market.
  15. I'm going to leave the politics thread for awhile. I don't think I have anything to contribute or want to contribute.
  16. His defense gave up 31 points on their own. Lamar Jackson isn't the problem in Baltimore anymore than Allen is in Buffalo.
  17. There's no strawman because I'm not making an argument and the proceeding remark doesn't change the language you used. "The radicalized violent left" which you wrote, is not changed by "now that there's a republican president" in any way. You still wrote that and you've written it in other ways and other places. That's the same type of language that you are then upset over. There's no logical fallacy to attack. You're using language that you are also criticizing others for using.
  18. Gah! The Red Wings got Borgen. And Fox! And ... Zibanejad? The Yzerplan was to assimilate the Rangers roster! 😇
  19. Athletic analytics model has an interesting take on this in terms of the depth chart and where the Sabres rank in terms of other guys in those slots around the league 1) Dahlin 82nd percentile 2) Power 31 3) Kesselring 55 4) Byram 64 5) Timmins 83 6) Samuelsson 93 Model says Mule/Timmins is an elite 3rd pair and Power is the only weak link standing in the way of the unit actually being elite. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6655759/2025/09/25/buffalo-sabres-2025-26-season-preview/
  20. So if I understand you correctly you're agreeing with what I've been saying for years, both sides of the aisle are equally horrible? And of course you ignore the qualifying remark preceding it that makes it not ironic for the purpose of your strawman argument, " now that there's a republican president"
  21. I didn’t catch all of the game but I did see that 4th down fumble. That one sums up my view of him. It was the same way in the playoff game last year. He had a solid game overall, but the couple early mistakes put his team in an early hole they could never escape.
  22. Kulich tweaked a muscle and will be out 1-2days according to Ruff
  23. Yes, they are there. They weren't when the post was started; had to step away before finishing it.
