It's also a little frustrating that the long tenured HC is publically saying/hinting that he disagrees with at least 2/23 players. My take on Lindy is that if you give him the 10th best roster he'll often be about the 10th best team in the league. But if you give him the 20th best roster he'll have you in the playoffs more often than you miss. If you're bottom 10 he'll have you in the hunt. He's a low ceiling, high floor kind of coach. He's a good stabilizer for an organization in transition and/or with a young, but he won't get you over the hump. To your point, firing Lindy accomplishes nothing.

I have to ask, do you consider breakaways soft goals? 1-on-0? 2-on-1?

I've played around with the different scenarios, and this is true. Here are the tiebreaking scenarios (hopefully I haven't missed anything): If the Pats beat the Bills this week, they clinch the division immediately (head-to-head tiebreaker). If the Bills go 4-0 and the Pats 2-2 with the second loss to either the Jets or Dolphins, the Bills win the division (conference record). If the Bills go 4-0 and the Pats 2-2 with the second loss against the Ravens, the Pats win the division (division record) If the Bills go 2-2 and the Pats 0-4, the Bills clinch the division (division record tiebreaker). If the Bills go 3-1 losing to the Jets and the Pats go 1-3 by beating either the Jets or Dolphins, the Pats win the division(division record). If the Bills go 3-1 losing to the Jets and the Pats go 1-3 by beating the Ravens, the Bills win the division (conference record). If the Bills go 3-1 losing to the Browns and the Pats go 1-3 beating the Jets or Dolphins, the Bills win the division (conference record). If the Bills go 3-1 losing to the Browns and the Pats go 1-3 beating the Ravens, the Bills win the division (division record). If the Bills go 3-1 losing to the Eagles and the Pats go 1-3 beating the Jets or Dolphins, the Bills win the division (common games). If the Bills go 3-1 losing to the Eagles and the Pats go 1-3 beating the Ravens, the Bills win the division (division record). Whew. I probably screwed up somewhere in there. That was a fun diversion.

As you acknowledge, the Sabres will not get much of a return for this impending free agent player. With respect to the cap space made available by not signing him, it shouldn't be forgotten that Buffalo is not an attractive franchise for players on the market. It shouldn't be forgotten that Buffalo is one of the most cited franchises on NTCs. If Tuch is dealt, the end result, even after utilizing the cap space, the Sabres will be a lesser team. And what a Tuch departure due to him not wanting to be here is another sign that this organization is so contaminated that not only players don't want to come here but also players here want out. That's an ugly situation to be in. And don't kid yourself that players such as Dahlin and Tage will also want to get the freak out.

I think it is more on goaltending that some thing, but in my opinion, the problems with this team allowing goals are, in the following order: 1.) First and foremost, the forwards are still awful, absolutely terrible (as a unit) helping out in their own end. 2.) Goalies let in too many soft goals 3.) Some bad plays by the D-men. For it it is definitly in that order...still...just like last year..and the year before...

Which is why, when it gets brough up, I'm not in favor of firing Ruff and thinking it will fix everything or anything. 1.) Its the roster management more than the head coach that hurts this team. 2.) If the Ownership/management doesn't change how they do things, what 'good' coach will want to come here and work under the conditions that exist?

He also had similar words around the 3 headed goalie situation. He was asked how hard it is for the goalies to get in rhythm with 3 on the roster and he said something like "it's been really hard for me too" It's clear Pegula/Adams is the problem here. I've beat this drum, Lindy is a respected hockeman in the NHL who belongs in the hall of very good. He's a tenured pro, we'll know by the end whether the issue is coaching or FO. It's clearly FO and Lindy is telling us as of late.

It's possible; likely actually. But, essentially not making any changes in the coaching staff before he started coaching them again nor again after coaching with them for a full year; seems to say something too.

This is just the goalie version of Chicken vs Egg. But I will point out that expecting a goalie to steal you games isn't a strategy. It's what good teams need when they have a bad night. Like Jake Allen did against us in the Devils game where he made 42 saves. If you think a goalie is going to steal games for your sorry squad night after night, sorry but Domenic Hasek isn't walking through that door.
