A quick look at his numbers in Europe show a pretty definitive view of a goalie who is never good at any level. His save percentages are usually below .900 even in European leagues where those numbers are often inflated. Sometimes sports isn't overly complicated. He's done a poor job stopping the puck pretty much anywhere he goes. Meanwhile Ratzlaff has been great in Jacksonville, and he deserves a chance.

I think the better way to look at it--given everything-- is that they have not played themselves out of things before Thanksgiving. It would not take much of a hot streak to get in a playoff position. Now whether they remotely have the talent and mental fortitude to do that is the major question. I doubt it, but would love to be proven wrong.

I wrote in a thread before the season showing how fewer and fewer teams in the East were reaching 100 points. This year might be interesting in that more teams may get to 100 points but the highest point getter may not have 110. Sure it would be nice if the Sabres could string a 6 game win streak together but it is very unlikely to happen. 6 game win streaks are going to be hard to come by for any team. That is the nature of parity. What we can't do is have another losing streak. Look at Montreal. They have lost 5 in a row and 7 out of 8. They went from 1st in the division to out of the playoffs in a few weeks time. You will see this happen to other teams as well. It's happening to the Penguins who are 2 out of the last 8. The important thing will be beating the teams in the division and the conference. That's where the season will be won or lost.

I wish the Bills got Sean Payton when he was available.

I assume, the way his shoulder was hanging down, that it was a dislocation. The trainers reset it, shot him up with some cortisone and a pain killer, patting him on the ass and sent him on his way. -

That would be a start, but they need to string together more than those two games if they want to show they’re for real. Unless several teams ahead of them go on epic losing streaks, a three game win streak won’t mean anything except reaffirm to Terry that Adams is on the right track. - Today

Or you could look at the standings and say to get that last eighth spot in the conference, you need a .600 Or better point percentage. Starting today, what do the sabres need to do to get to that level so they could be the last team in the playoffs? It's a six-game winning streak. If they were to 'only' win the next five in a row that brings them to .577..... Which would still have them outside a playoff spot.

A 21 year old goalie who has played 6 games in North America. Perhaps it’s a bit too early for that write off?

Figures, my first time ever at Disney World and they dominate a team while I was enjoying the last day of food & wine at Epcot. 😂 -

My first game of the season, and it was a lot of fun to watch! I don't know what people are complaining about...... 🤣 Some observations. I thought Quinn had a very good game. I recall only one play where I said "wtf!" I was surprised when Tuch was announced as the first star and to find out he had 4 assists. He had a very "quiet" excellent game. Zucker was much more noticeable, though I also didn't realize he ended the game with 3 points. With him back, the lines are more balanced (Looking forward to getting Benson back, and I sure hope we get to see what Norris does for the team for a long period of time). Our seats were right over the Sabres locker room entrance, and we all thought Byram was done the way he went grimacing in pain. I don't know how long it was, but we were shocked when we noticed him on the ice again. That Doan kid is pretty good. Overall, the Sabres responded well after each Hawks' goal. A solid game. -
100% Beat Carolina and Pittsburgh the next 2 games.

It was a fun game to watch but this win means little unless they actually start stringing them together. -

Not Deluca .500 though. -
So I guess they "Wanted it more" last night? It keeps the current HC GM in play which is bad. I don't fault anyone for not wanting this team to keep up the win 1 and lose 2 meta.
-
The division and conference in general are crazy right now. No "bad" teams that are out of it completely. We are in last place with 20 points but Boston leads the division with 26 having played 2 extra games. Definitely encouraging with how poorly we have played and how injured we have been for much of the year, but at some point we can't keep counting on everyone else to not be good either, they have to take a step. Been a long time since the door was this wide open.

I’m happy they won, but one game’s worth of effort doesn’t erase the 10 games of little effort that has this team at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings. Until they put forth that kind of effort night in and night out we aren’t going to see real progress. -

No, I expected a win as I said. I'm just not about to break something jumping on and off the bandwagon. A beer league team could have beaten Chicago tonight. they were horrible. -

I think he slid because he's small and teams didn't think he would have the same effectiveness playing against the big boys.
