I'm confused too. This isn't difficult if you don't change the discussion. Are you saying every trade is even if both teams got better? How would you measure if both teams got equally better. Wouldn't it be scarce to say both teams got equally better? The math has to be on the side that one team got better than the other. Or as I'd call it, won the trade. That's what I think is so difficult for some posters to even suggest.

I have seen gambling do harm to families, so I don't like the whole idea of gambling being pushed like it is today. That said, I would not complain about it in a GDT, I will pay no attention to it. Ironically, Grant and Ferry was my first neighborhood, which made me comment on the thread. I have such great memories of the West Side way back then and that corner was once bustling with shops and small businesses.

Well, glad I didn't look for the sportsbook at that monstrous casino (probably ain't that big, but seems huge to this kid) if you've got your own bookie right at the end of the Thankgiving dinner table.

My life experience of betting on hockey is $5 and that's because I wanted the ticket as a bookmark. My entire life experience of betting on sports in general, not counting a super bowl pool or fantasy football, is $10. (The other $5 was on the 1986 Mets and my friend never paid up.) I don't mind a good poker game, and a craps table at the right place can be a lot of fun. I don't understand sports gambling, but I don't condemn it, either. And I'm the son of a former bookie, too.

Fairly certain Byram ain't the brightest bulb on the tree. But, Jim Kelly isn't either and he's a Hall of Fame QB. Expect better coaching could get more out of him. He has serious talent. As for the focus of this thread, Power, wouldn't be heart broken if he were to be traded for the right haul. But personally expect trading him away before we see how he can mesh with Kesselring is premature. IMHO, paired with Timmons a few shifts, he's looked better than he has in the past. Have not liked him in his few shifts with Dahlin. And getting away from the thread topic again, have been happy with Samuelsson's play since he's come back from the most recent boo-boo. (Of course have been drinking pretty much all week, so maybe he just seems to be playing better. Had heard of these "vacations" but didn't really know much about them. They are forking awesome (especially when the wife's company is picking up a big chunk of the dime).)

As in, they are so top heavy that if you can neutralize the top lines, there's no "there" there further down the lineup.

Back in the day, pretty sure LaFontaine had to be out 40 games before insurance would start paying out. And for someone injury prone, the policies aren't cheap. (If you want to know how likely an event is, price out an insurance policy on it and figure the insurance company plans to net out across all its policies about 12% profit. So, look at the policy value, the policy cost, and that profit factor and you get a rough likelihood of what a pro considers the likelihood of that event happening.) Any policy on Norris would have at least 30 games missed as being the expectation. So, he must be EXPENSIVE to insure. Don't know if they'd have him insured against single season injury or not.

I think he's going to be a good one and it's a positive that they are giving him the proper time to develop. It's been so rare in recent years to see this organization make a good decision that it's almost odd to recognize it when they do.
