  1. Past hour
  2. I’m sitting down for fantastic four right now. I’m so glad the two newborns aren’t in my theater.
  3. Why? They have an internal salary cap. Why? They aren’t committed to winning. Why? Because younger and cheaper is the motto of the franchise. Why? Because they have never given out a long term deal to a veteran player. Why? Because under Adams they have traded away every productive forward when their contracts came due (Eichel, Mitts, Reinhart and JJP) downgrading the talent on the roster each time. Why? They still have a ton of dead weight contracts in Power, UPL, Norris and Samuelsson. If the Sabres were committed to keeping Tuch, the deal would already be done. So much for “wants to be here”
  4. Bought a 2024 can-am commander last September. Planned a Hatfield & McCoy trail trip starting this coming week. Wife and I are mid 50’s but I said f it, we’re doing this.
  5. That's your key takeaway?
  6. If Quinn rebound, Benson matures and Kulich continues to improve there is a significant likelihood that Tuch isn’t re-signed.
  7. Jobs reports are ALWAYS adusted up or down after a month or so. ALWAYS.
  8. Today
  9. That Samuelsson is still in the lineup is sad. Someone replace him.
  10. The key takeaway for me is.. what was the mistake and how was it made? This report isn't a new thing. But then I think we all know the report has no consistent algorithm that reduces or eliminates the ability to inject bias into it. Trump's response is typical. He continues to demonstrate his childish name calling. It does however amuse me when people resort to the same tactic when criticizing Trump. As far as I am concerned the economy is on a bubble, but no one can quite figure out when it will burst or if it will just subside with a slow leak.
  11. Moved the youngest into her dorm today (athletics start early). Both fantastic and somewhat sad. But I am excited for the next chapter and it what it will mean for her. So.. fantastic wins.
  12. It's fair. I would say it's a silly question to counter a silly statement. But we see all the time "The Sabres need to make the playoffs, regardless of the cost" or "Who cares about winning in the future, they need to win now" Clearly the cost matters and winning now, while important, should not come at the expense of improving overall long term success.
  13. Disappointed in season 2. Stories are much weaker and after a while, Natasha Lyonne is too one note. Stopped watching after episode 7. Watched the Billy Joel documentary on HBO. Thought it was a good documentary and gave me new insight to him. However, I left finding him kind of unlikeable.
  14. It's not really. This is how the Internet works. If you say Devon Levi then the reach of the article is limited to those who might have an interest in him or the team for which he plays. Whereas, if you mention Sam Reinhart you will get Sabres fans as well as people who would have an interest in Sam Reinhart. This happens quite often these days in headline writing in an attempt to get more eyeballs to see it and then entice people to click. I get a lot of "Former <insert team here> draft pick projected to be cut" or traded, or something else. Goofy and annoying, but for most people it turns into a click.
  15. We can only hope people don’t fall for his ever growing bull$hit. He thinks we are all stupid, especially his core maga constituency.
  16. Yeah, that was a bit of a "big" moment. But I mean, it's something and it is also promoting KeyBank which is a pretty large corporation. Yeah, it's easy to get worn down. It's just perspective. I really want this team to win. I'll take the Bills winning, but for me the Sabres winning is more important. But, perspective says worry about that which you can change. It's not easy.
  17. "The model för all non-traditional NHL markets". It really was wild. Interesting read. Thanks.
  18. Mentioning a curse presents an avenue to absolve Pegula from everything that has gone on. Don’t go there. This thing is completely self-made and it’s more than just one bad decision.
  19. I know it’s pretty much all about the one way deal, but it just feels like a good time to make the gamble on himself. Yeah, I know I’m gambling with someone else’s money, but the risk feels very small here.
  20. Because from now on, only the numbers the Supreme leader wants will be published.
  21. And it's a long read! I didn't get through even half of it, I think.
  22. This USA Today story about how the Dallas Stars control (and apparently profit from?) youth hockey in North Texas is frickin' wild. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/investigations/2025/08/01/nhl-dallas-stars-texas-youth-hockey-monopoly/84289184007/
  23. Rust, but it has to be 2 years or less.
  24. Comparing era’s means you have to make assumptions. I guess your point is that just by looking at points and W/L record you can argue that they were not as consistently bad as the Golden Seals, the Barons, the early Caps, etc. They are a different kind of bad. Pegula had some great players, some future stars, and some really good players and he squandered it. What other teams have done that? The way they tanked seems to have created a curse. This season is going to be a critical one. Another bad one and look for Tage and Dahlin to get anxious.
  25. Darn good Q. Issue is, the acquisition cost won't be the same. Roslovic is a UFA and Rust would necessitate something going back to the Pens. And at current costs, issue really comes down to how one feels about the current leadership in the room. If you feel strongly the team needs another veteran voice that has been THERE, the choice goes to Rust. If you're looking for a guy that could be part of the solution for the longer term, the choice is Roslovic.
