I look at it like you don't even have a chance to win without him. Big difference
-
As long as “Gun Show” Hoculi isn’t the head official, the Bills should win this one.

We could have put a package together to make the trade. Our first is worth more than the Wild first. Then it's Byram or Power. The third piece would be a center. Maybe Kulich or Östlund. I think that is just as much as what they got from the wild. Even if the Sabres were assured about signing Hughes to a contract I don't see how it would of worked with two Alpha D men in the room. Are you taking Dahlin off the first unit power play? Not really seeing how the puzzle fits together in this case.

That's so much more than Vancouver just got. Power and Byram are more established than Buium. Tuch I guess is the Rossi comparable. The 3 prospects are at or better than Ohgren. And finally you give up an unprotected 1st on the worst team in the east, all for a guy you don't even need. Cons are you're years away from contending and just trading a bunch of stuff for a 5'10" lhd who plays the same roll as Dahlin. The pros are... you made changes? Hughes is pretty good offensively?

I’m betting yes. -
Dahlin is the type to pick up the bill

The Sabres' record with Eichel and Reinhart and without was not too sterling. They got dealt and ended up with their names on the Cup, Reinhart for multiple times. The lesson to be learned is that improving the overall talent base of the team is the right course to take rather than setting yourself further back by getting rid of your best players who end up being good players on championship caliber teams.

I remember that episode. Be careful, I’m a Sicilian. If you upset me, I’ll shoot in the kneecap and watch you dance/hobble.😎

I’m aware of the tradition. I’m not totally against it. But I’ve heard of stories where some inconsiderate players take advantage of the tradition by buying bottles of the most expensive liquor (champagne) just because it is free and don’t even consume all of it. I agree with you that it is a time honored NHL tradition. It shouldn’t be a surprise that sometimes a few people take advantage of it.
-
As a thought experiment, what would a Sabres trade for Hughes have looked like? Power or Byram, Tuch (assuming he signs long term with Canucks), Rosen, Östlund or Helenius and unprotected #1, assuming Hughes signs long term with Sabres. Would you be pro or con for something along those lines?

This conversation reminds me of the Sopranos episode where Christopher is forced to buy dinner because he is the newest made guy. I did not post a link because of the R rated nature of it but on You Tube it's Paulie and Christopher kill a waiter. So that is what can go wrong.

It’s a time honored tradition in most professional sports. And those higher paid vets return the favor over the course of a season.

I say yes. Adding Tuch and Norris should energize this tired group for its last game on this extended road trip. This battered group needs some positivity for its long flight back. Question: Are players allowed to drink on team flights?
