Pretty good? Buffalo is probably the best U.S. hockey market outside Minneapolis, Detroit, and Boston. I'd love to see the mood and attendance figures of any other non-Canadian franchise after 14+ years of no playoffs.

Well that's the thing... There has been 14 plus years of no playoffs.

That can turn a really good hockey market into a bad one.

My assessment where I said pretty good... It's kind of the average of what it used to be, averaged out with what it is now.

Here's why I think it's not that good anymore. When I was in high school, 80% of the guys in school knew about the sabres, talked about the sabres, followed the team.

Now, I have a handful of nieces and nephews, some of them that used to... That don't even care anymore. They don't know anything about the team.

There will always be hardcore hockey fans here, but the market has deteriorated.

There is nothing Terry can say that will make things better. He's such a poor public speaker he'll only make things worse.

That is another area where a POHO can step in and be the face and voice of the organization.

I get what you're saying, but watch this town blow up if this trash owner hired Shanahan as POHO, DeBoer as HC, promoted Kekalainen to GM, and then made the playoffs. It's a dormant fanbase ready to explode as soon as Terry gets out of the way.

Unless it goes further south, I don't see a in season change. Not publicly. I could see Kekäläinen making the moves at the deadline with Adams as the figurehead but I don't think we get an in season firing.

It has to go much further south for Pegula to give up on his buddy.

Think Tuch/TNT requesting trades and the reason given that they have no faith in Adams specifically. And no veteran player is going to do that because they'll appear as a malcontent. Their potential suitor GM doesn't want to see that.

This is the truth and I have said it before Pegula walked in here and in 14 years eradicated an entire generation of fans and set the brand back to a place that it is almost impossible to come back from...  Like the Jack in the Box brand after the Ebola outbreak was maybe our equal...

Is Mike Leone in line to take over for Lindy, even as an interim?

The assumption was Seth Appert was next in line. That's why he was brought up from Rochester after he got the Amerks to the AHL final four two years ago. But since he's been part of this debacle for 1½ seasons would going to Appert be enough of a change to jump start this moribund team?

If Lindy were to be relieved of his duties mid-season, and you go with an interim for the rest of the year, who else could you promote other than Leone or Appert?

IMO there needs to be an eradication of anyone associated with this FO, a respected and tenured GM/POHO needs to be brought in and then let them decide....  so bottom line is I think they all need to go... but If you bring in a respected GM/POHO I am fine with Adams going and let the new GM decide on players and staff... retool, rebuild or torch it...

I don't necessarily want Pegula to sell the team.  I want him to be a good owner who spends to the cap every year and who doesn't tolerate continued front office failure.

I hear you. But my kid was in second grade, the last time the Sabres made the playoffs and he’s a big Sabre fan. He’s now a junior in college, that’s insane.  something dramatic needs to change.

Is the correct answer the Pegula kid that designed the BS hat?

Seems on brand.

Personally would turn the reins over to Kekalainen and let him determine the disposition of the FO/scouts.  Hopefully he'd lean towards more culling than keeping and fairly or not, want Forton gone but the rest would leave up to Jarmo.

The coaching staff - punt them all but let Ruff take on some "advisory" role if you want to spare having fired him a 2nd time.

And if somebody that seems to be clearly better than Jarmo gets cut free in the interim, grab him and thank Jarmo for his service.

If they lose tonight, I think that is the inflection point. Whether they move slow or fast from there, hard to say with how disinterested Terry seems in the day to day.

Anybody think Barnaby knows something or?

I don't want Ted Lasso as coach but would consider a Coach Beard and Roy Kent combo.

The NHL may very well be stepping in behind closed doors with Terry is my suspicion. He’s damaged an organizational brand for so long now and the NHL has to be feeling the financial as well as optics hit, albeit small market such as it is it was prior to Pegula a solid entrenched small market following the bankruptcy years. Just my hunch is all.
