There’s no need to trade UPL. Just waive him and thank the Lord if someone else takes him. Someone tell Terry we found a way of saving him more money.

Positionally they did....

Sabres outshot the Blues.

Sabres had 18 scoring chances to 7 for St. Louis.

Sabres had 8 high danger chances to only 4 for the Blues.

Sabres almost tripled St. Louis expected goals.

Positionally the Sabres played better. They just couldn't score, had a terrible turnover by Quinn, and bad goaltending.

Stats aside, is that how you felt watching it? Personally, I thought their effort kinda sucked.

St Louis should've run UPL on their closing powerplay. Just have Parayko go stand in front of the net and fall into him a few times.

Why would they do us any favors?Β

I hope this is the wake-up call Ruff et al need to close the door on UPL. That trip was unnecessary, dangerous, and mean. That guy is a dark cloud and needs to go.

It's really hard to like this team, you try and then you get games like this constantly against the worst team in hockey, UPL has no business in net even as a backup at this point he just seems to drag us down.

Ellis playing tonight might have revved up the Sabres. Β The Blues were certainly playing for pride. Β Past culture responds, Β if only temporarily. Β

Are they being told to do the drop pass or are they just kind of……..dumb?

UPL taking a tripping penalty after giving up two in just 13 shots solidified my opinion on him.

We have two legitimate top six forwards and neither are game changers.

Appert would be another bad hire.

He’s a used car salesman pretending to be an NHL coach. Β He only had to fool two people and successfully did so (TP and KA)

Now the Blues will never trade us Kyrou for UPL. Β

The Canadians did circles around these clowns in their rebuild twice as fast and have a young and exciting team.Β

Several teams probably have had 2+ successful rebuilds during the Sabres drought. Just sad here. Canadians and Detroit looking good. Β Teams like Utah and Anaheim finding their way.

Ruff should be fired, along with every coach, right after the game.Β

I've always been a big believer that the moment you realize your coach can't get you to where you want to go, you should fire him. I don't care if it's 5 games or 5 years. Keeping the wrong guy one game longer wastes time and is counterproductive. If tonight doesn't definitively show you that Lindy and the detritus stealing oxygen next to him aren't the guys, I don't know what to tell ya. Feelers should be out to multiple coaches right now, and an escape from Lindy and the 3 Stooges should be in motion. That was gutless and inexcusable.

A boot still on Benson means he's probably at least a week away -- so unlikely for the entire road trip. He can re-energize the team. We've seen it already this season. But, it may be too late with everyone in the East scooping up every point available.

We all realize this is a bad sign, right? I suppose I will need to add the caveat that this has nothing to do with Benson. Hockey is a team sport that relies on team depth.

Put your Opponent NHL GM hat on. Are you claiming Luukkonen and his 3x$4.75M (plus the rest of this year) on your cap?

If you mean a favor by ending the powerplay and giving the Sabres a chance in the game -- I disagree. The instant the Sabres pulled their goalie to go for a goal the Blues denied the blue line and scored.

If you mean by injuring UPL --- why would they care? In fact, it'd give Ellis a chance to play and some of their guys probably like him.

It’s odd to say we miss Norris when we never see him but we miss the production he’s supposed to be delivering as a top 2 C. It’s just such a substantial hole in the roster. We are reliant on Tage always but without Norris our offence seemingly has no chance if Thompson isn’t playing at the all-star level we know he’s capable of. If he’s just sort of ok like today, well it kinda looks like this.

Dahlin too. Way too ordinary Β

Pegula doesn’t care about winning….only that he can trust the idiots he put in charge.

These guys are soft and play when they want to! Β Too many nights they take games off. It’s the mentality of this group
