shrader Posted yesterday at 03:57 PM Report Posted yesterday at 03:57 PM Why are we even the least bit concerned about the Georgiev contract? They’re at 48 total contracts so that’s not getting in the way of anything. If they really need to make space later, that will be an easy fix. He’s not going to be taking significant time away from anyone with the amerks. They bought a $2 dollar powerball ticket and lost. It’s time to move on. 2 Quote

Well ya, I guess, but if you're not going to play him it doesn't matter. As he's a young guy with a ceiling to come you'd think they would want to see what he has. If he's good you might look at ditching UPL. If you don't give him a look you just lose him when you waive him. Quote
Archie Lee Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago Here’s the thing with goalies: a game, a week, a month, even a season, won’t prove much. Outside of a select battle-tested few, you won’t know what you are getting; a stud today will be a dud tomorrow. And even the good ones aren’t always good (see Swayman and Saros a year ago, as just two examples). So, trading UPL because Lyon has had a nice start to the year and Ellis looked good in his first game, might be foolish. It could also prove smart as we don’t know what UPL is going to do either. The two teams I could see having the most interest in UPL are Philadelphia and Carolina. Quote

Would Georgiev accept an outright release at this point? 17 hours ago, PerreaultForever said: Well ya, I guess, but if you're not going to play him it doesn't matter. There's a point every season when goalies get injured and your extra keeper suddenly becomes a trade asset. 12 minutes ago, Archie Lee said: Here’s the thing with goalies: a game, a week, a month, even a season, won’t prove much. There is no downside to keeping UPL in Rochester a little longer, and even once he's in Buffalo, keeping three goalies. Eventually something has to change but we're weeks from that. The most in the NHL is 44 and he was decent that year with a .904 save % and a 21-18-5 record. He has never had an NHL season approaching UPL's 23-24 season, where UPL had 54 starts, and a .910 save %. I have no idea if UPL will get things turned around, but I'm not sure why some are so quick to give up on him. Lyon is playing very good hockey so far, people are ignoring that while he is steady, he did not carry Detroit to the playoffs. Ellis had one good game. Some fans here are yearning for a hero. UPL has never looked like the answer except for one stint, but the Sabres will need to get him ready and showcase him. Either he wins games or he gets moved. The goalie situation will take some time to play out. Edited 4 hours ago by Pimlach Quote

Tampa's Geekie is a good shooter. The second he did not have help around the net. Late in the game Amerks had 2 men in the box but Syracuse could not score. All in all a good nights work. 1 Quote
