LGR4GM Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago A bunch of LHD either getting traded or signing changes the equation on Byram. Quote
triumph_communes Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago Yeah well if we got an offer sheet then we’d only get draft picks which doesn’t help us today, so we had to trade him for a backup goaltender so we could improve the team TODAY Quote
Mr Peabody Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago Did KA shed salary so he could match a Byram offer? Could that be why he can’t make a move? Or is that giving him too much credit? Quote

LabattBlue Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago If I was Byram, no way do I sign an offer sheet, knowing this clown show might match, and then I am stuck here. Quote
Archie Lee Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago Just now, jad1 said: It would be hysterical if Bryam gets an offer sheet. They were just discussing Byram on TSN. According to their Insider-Panel: - Byram is a year away from UFA status - If a team offer sheets him at one year and $7 million, then the cost is a 1st and 3rd - If the Sabres match an offer-sheet, the rule is that you can't trade the player for 12 months - Thus, if the Sabres match a one-year offer sheet on Byram, they would not be able to trade him as he would hit UFA status before 12 months passed. Does anyone know if this is all correct? Or did I misunderstand? Quote

Or is that giving him too much credit? The Sabres have more than $20M in cap space and only Bo to sign. Only thing preventing them from matching an offer is themselves. If they’re trading him, they are getting at least a 1st, 2nd and 3rd back in relative value. Quote

DarthEbriate Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago As TSN just discussed, you're a playoff team. Your 2026 1st is a lock to be 17 or afterward (or is it?). Offer sheet Byram for 1 year -- Buffalo can't match because if you match you can't trade him for a year (no deadline sweepstakes). That walks him directly to UFA next summer and... he alone is not getting the Sabres to the playoffs... is he? Can Adams take that bet? So... present a contract giveaway trade and a lesser pick. And if Buffalo doesn't like it, you offer sheet Byram. If you're... say... Vegas, you'll figure out a way to make it under the cap by opening day. Quote
