Also it's crazy to think, the Stars just fired a HC who made the Stanley Cup playoff finals 3 years in a row and we continue to let our GM who hasn't made it to a single playoff apopearance get a 6th season, it's crazy to think about that but easy to wonder why we haven't made the playoffs in 15 seasons.

He's a Dunnville boy. He'd sign here for sure.

Get 'im @Weave's #.  He'll show 'im all the good fishin' spots.  (Not the best ones; gotta keep careful watch on those, but he'll share the good ones.)  😉

The Sabres could've attempted to hire Montgomery when the Bruins let him go. Nah. They aren't going to hire DeBoer. If GMKA is still in power next year, it's the Appert show. Only Pegula could overrule him, and the only coaches Pegula knows are ex-Sabres coaches.

Here's a quote from DeBoer...

I can't think of a lake in Ontario that has Walleye and Salmon. I know there's the odd Salmon in Erie, but I've never heard of a salmon "run" there. That said, Lake Erie / the Grand River (in Dunnville) would probably be the best choice out of any lake in Ontario that I can think of that is known for Walleye, but still has "some" salmon.

DeBoer should come to Buffalo. He can get to Dunnville in about an hour.

It would never happen, but the Sabres are more-well-positioned to make such a move than most other teams.  Adams and Ruff are in the final years of their contracts. There have been rumors, or at least speculation, that both could move into other roles (Adams to POHO, Ruff to an advisory role).  A veteran GM, Kekalainan, was recently hired as a Senior Advisor. Heck, you could make an argument that, looking ahead to the future, Adams, Ruff, and Kekalainan, would just be doing their jobs if they put there heads together and concluded that the Sabre organization would be foolish to not take a run at DeBoer. Together they could recommend speeding up the transition of Adams to POHO, Ruff to Senior Advisor, Kekalainan to GM, and hiring DeBoer as head coach. Requires someone with a vision though.

Would love to hire DeBoer but they won't for many reasons and money is just one.

DeBoer would  want to run things his way, he will not like the roster as constructed, he would not like the layers you describe (Jarmo/Lindy/Kevyn/Terry) to have to navigate through just to make roster moves.

On the other hand, he's unemployed right now in a field that has exactly 32 such positions.

yup, and a team that wants to win right now will make a move to get him.

Ugh.  He apparently isn’t aware that Lake Ontario has good populations of both salmon and walleye.

We’re doomed.

Now that I think about it, the Bay of Quinte on Lake Ontario is known for walleye, and I'm guessing they still get salmon in there. That said, I'd be very surprised if he'd be talking about anywhere else other than the Lake Erie / Dunnville area.

Hence why its doom.  He’s too parochial to be aware there is another lake in Ontario that is a Great Lake (ffs) and has both walleyes and salmon..  It even says ONTARIO in the name.

I'm from Ontario, and no one in the Golden Horseshoe would on this side of the border would ever target walleye in Lake O to the point it would be a talking point in an interview.

In the eastern part of the lake in some of the bays... maybe, but thats not really a popular spot for lake houses for people from around here. For sure he's on Erie somewhere in the Port Maitland area.

Doesn't matter anyways. Lindy's under contract for another year... I just posted it because I like Muddy the Mudcat!

We’ve been paying for our lack of vision for at least 8 of the last 14 years.

The lack of vision started with the original plan…….

And it should be noted that the self-proclaimed largest walleye in the world is in Rush, MN. It’s supposedly 2,000 pounds and was caught by Paul Bunyan. And is made of fiberglass.

For some… delicious…  reason, walleye got stocked in the Columbia River, so you can get tasty walleye in Eastern Washington, west of the Rockies. It doesn’t make it to the Seattle restaurants, but it’s there, just a few hours east.

Was Leino the original plan? Or the locker room and HarborCenter?

It's a shame it won't happen. But this is exactly the high priced asst HC you bring in at a time like this. Lindy fails, he steps in. Lindy does well, he gets hired somewhere else as a HC - OR - Lindy retires/gets an office position and he becomes our HC. It's a great move from an improvement/insurance perspective. This is an asst HC you over pay for.
