Maybe no one else wants the job?

Well for the right price anybody would take the job.

But speaking of that, I have always assumed they all make millions and guys like Ken Holland signed 5 million per year deals publicly but I googled around and there's very little info on this and I couldn't find anything on Kevyn Adams. Matter of fact a few spots suggested Sabres GM makes around 70,000 which just seemed wrong.

But could it be as simple as that? That Pegula pays his GMs crap and thus nobody of note does in fact want the job?

I can’t believe an NHL GM could possibly make such a paltry salary.

Why is Kevin Adams still GM...to answer the original question?

Terry Pegula likes him. Adams lets Pegula 'feel involved and heard' when Pegula wants to be.  Adams likely never tells Terry he's wrong. When things go wrong Terry can go hide in Florida and Adams is there to take all questions and defend Terry and tell the media how great Terry is as an owner.

Adams is still GM for no other reason than Pegula wants it that way.

I remembered that there were reports on what Granato was making. So I looked that up and found a number of sources that report Granato’s extension lifted his annual salary to $1.9 million. So, Donnie did ok.  A reasonable bet is that Adams makes north of that.

Where did you come up with that implausible figure? Stay away from those conspiracy sites. You are being captured by the zany world of basement people.

Breaking news: they're out of the basement.

Maybe Punch back in 70-71

I found a site saying he made $60K/year, which is about $450K in todays dollars.  This seems about right for the time.

This was big money back then, but obviously nothing like today.  You could buy an Orange ticket for about $4 or $5  if my memory serves (less if you had season tickets).  Of course there were no Sabres tickets to be found in the 70's since every game was sold out, if you didn't have tickets you had to know someone that did.

Thankfully, the classy Knox's did not gouge us and there was no ticket master/stub hub to allow us to gouge each other.

Sometimes less is more.

It comes up on the google AI suggestions. I said it seemed wrong but I couldn't find a real number. I've always assumed they all makes millions which is the point about taking the job. Who wouldn't take a multi million dollar payday even if it was Buffalo?

There are plenty of high caliber people who wouldn’t take the job under the parameters the owner has established. The main reason for declining is that the system and conditions established by the befuddled owner is a situation designed to fail.
