X. Benedict
First of all, the explosion of big government is the problem, and Bush is as much to blame as Obama is. Second, I trust those soldier's words 100% more than ANYTHING that comes out of the government. They ate with him, slept with him, went into harms way with him. The soldiers in his platoon and company know what the real deal is. The bottom line is that Obama let loose 5 of the most dangerous terrorists known to man at the moment, and all of us are at greater risk now than we were before. Bergdahl is a sideshow, a legal issue and hopefully he is the one good thing that comes out of this mess (if he is convicted in a court of law the right way, with a fair trial that he is rightfully entitled to, and is shot by a firing squad, then that is the only good I can see.) Just a point. The guys released were held as enemy combatants, right? They were never tried for acts of terrorism. I ask, because i'm not really sure under what grounds they've been held. Seems like a real gray area to begin with. Edited June 5, 2014 by X. Benedict

SarasotaSabre
They are wanted for crimes against humanity by the UN War Crimes Tribinal... some examples - beheading 10 & 16 yr old boys on suspicion that they were spies, murdering those who attended a mixed gender party, executing a 15 yr old girl in Pakistan who had spoken out in favor of education for women. yeahhh, just garden variety "prisoners of war" as part of an everyday, wartime prisoner swap..... :wallbash: . And POTUS has no regrets & no apologies, appearing very defiant to all. Great precedent you have set, BHO. What do you have in store for us next as part of the remaining lame duck time of your Presidency? I can't wait to find out.....
Hoss
You have to give value to get value. You're not getting back Taylor Pyatt without giving one of Ristolainen or Zadorov. Maybe both plus picks.

SarasotaSabre
You never don't mention it, and it diminishes every else you have to say. OK as you're keeping score, I'll leave it as Obama, it makes no difference to me. BHO happens to be the legal shorthand for his name, and frankly it is quicker and easier to write. But since it gets your panties in a wad and supposedly diminishes "every else" I have to say, I could care less. If you don't like the message or my opinion, try to distract by calling attention to a middle initial.....I get it, a surefire way to change the dialogue. Keep on with it if it makes you feel better, but if you want to get stuck in the minutiae, you're just making yourself look foolish.

It's not minutia, it gets to the core of a very significant subconscious racial bias against this particular man.
SarasotaSabre
It's not minutia, it gets to the core of a very significant subconscious racial bias against this particular man. Ah, the old canard - the race card. Nice try. My distaste and disapproval for and of Obama has nothing to do with race and everything to do with his judgment, leadership, competence, performance, and ideology, among others. I could care less what color he happens to be, but since I know you don't know me or what I stand for, I don't expect you to believe me. But I will tell you, unequivocally, that you have no right throwing the race card at me based on my prior use of his middle name or initial on this board. I, for one, would love to see Ben Carson as our next President, so may I ask what does that make me by your twisted logic? I care deeply about this country and would be inspired by a strong leader with character and competence like Dr. Ben Carson.
LastPommerFan
I'm not racist! I have a black friend!!! I'm not pointing it out to change your mind, I'm pointing it out for the benefit of anyone else reading the conversation. I'm 100% certain you never referenced William Jefferson Clinton, George Herbert Walker Bush, Ronald Wilson Reagan, or James Earl Carter. Your use is specifically to demean the man based on his genealogy. It's the definition of racism.

The fact that you responded so strongly confirms my belief. I am calling BS on both of you. SwampD, you must be a really crappy tarot card reader, because you think you know my intentions. The fact that you are way overly sensitive about my use of Obama's 3 initials just confirms to me that I hit an unintended nerve. I stated clearly and honestly that I typed BHO out of time saving shorthand. I will be sure to never ever make that cardinal sin here ever again, for fear of offending the PC police. President Obama - there, do you feel better? or is it OK if I write BO, or would that be offensive because it surely means I have diminished Barack Obama to Body Odor? Glass Case of Emotion - since when is stating a vast difference in my opinions of Obama & Carson is that akin to "I'm not racist, I have a black friend"??? Again, you don't know me from Adam but you think you do based upon your gross misperception of me. I was making a very candid comparison between a President whom I don't respect and a potential candidate who I do. They both happen to be black. I could care less. I think Carson would make an excellent candidate. Give it a rest. You are both way over the top on this one. If we met and had a beer you would see I'm not evil and I don't have 3 heads. I am done with this crapfest now, as I have a 9am job interview to get ready for.
Hoss
It takes me more time to type BHO than Obama... It's just two more letters and only had one cap compared to three... Edited June 6, 2014 by Tankalicious

Of course we'd have a great time getting a beer. and we should! I don't think you're an evil guardian of the underworld at all. I think you are subconsciously (as I initially noted) affect by racial biases, as almost all American's are. I feel it is constructive to point out those instances. Seriously, if I'm ever in ATL or you make it to the Finger Lakes, we should do beers. And Good Luck Tomorrow!
