LabattBlue
Anyone else find it strange that Ennis has yet to sign a contract with camp a little over a month away? I don't think there is a lot of negotiating room with the entry level contracts, so why the delay?

I don't think there is a lot of negotiating room with the entry level contracts, so why the delay? I know that, unlike Myers, he is old enough to play in the AHL this year, but I don't think that he has to. So, they can evaluate him in camp and sign him if they think that he is ready. If not, they could send him back to juniors and it wouldn't count toward his entry-level contract. Shrader can probably confirm or deny.

Darcy talks about him like he is already signed so i don't know what the hold up is. This whole off season has been kind of strange.

Shows you how much I've been paying attention. It is strange though. There won't be any negotiation here. He'll get the max deal.
bottlecap
Thanks guys for the heads up here. From what I heard, this kid is one of our top prospects. Crank up the fax machine Darcy. :wallbash: Come to think of it, I haven't used a thumbs up  for a long, long time. So here are some gratuitous thumbs up, as in thumbs up management's a**.

spndnchz
Still no news on the Ennis front. From your BN article this morning Regier also is working on a contract agreement with forward Tyler Ennis, one of two first-round picks in the 2008 entry draft. Ennis had 43 goals each of the past two seasons for Medicine Hat of the Western Hockey League, and his next team is likely the Sabres’ minor league affiliate in Portland. “He’ll come to camp and we’ll work on his contract, but the expectation is that he’ll turn pro and not return to junior this year,” Regier said. SabresBillsFan
I wouldn't be surprised if Gerbe, Ennis and Kennedy all start in Portland. I just don't see the Sabres rushing those guys to fill the roster now. But I guess we will see. If one of them start tearing it up in the preseason that will be the only way he makes the roster for opening night. Ennis isn't signed yet but he will be by the end of training camp i will bet on it!

FrankTheTank
I haven’t heard one thing about this kid’s progress from Sabers management or sports reports. He looks like the real deal. From- http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/tyler_ennis 2007-08: An offensive threat and power play specialist, Ennis represented Team WHL versus Team Russia at the ADT Canada-Russia Challenge and participated at the 2008 Home Hardware Top Prospects game. In 70 appearances with Medicine Hat (WHL), Ennis racked up 91 points, and an additional four points in five postseason games. Talent Analysis Ennis is a pure offensive talent who possesses excellent speed and quickness. At 5-9, he is able to use his skating ability to undress defenders or carry the puck until the play develops. He has a quick shot, and is very effective in setting up teammates. From- http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/tyler_ennis Scouting reports are great and all, but if you go only by those, just about every prospect is made out to be the real deal. High hopes for the kid are completely realistic, but I want to see more on the ice before I'm ready to say anything about him. Oh, and make a quick edit on the spelling of the team name in your post and we'll pretend it never happened. ;)
Two or less
Scouting reports are great and all, but if you go only by those, just about every prospect is made out to be the real deal. High hopes for the kid are completely realistic, but I want to see more on the ice before I'm ready to say anything about him. Oh, and make a quick edit on the spelling of the team name in your post and we'll pretend it never happened. ;) Exactly. And the link he posted to, the "scouting" report is not made by any expert, just a fan like many here. There has been a lot of players who are awesome at lower levels but their game never develops to the NHL level. That said though, I really think Ennis could be a very special player. I've seen several games in WHL of his and WJC, and he's been great. However, most people who watch him nightly (local reporters, coaches, fans) always droll over this kid's talent. I've only watched several games, so my opinion is limited, but those people see him nightly. His size will always be a question mark until he proves it though. Sad but it is what it is when you're 5'9.
