[OT] I just bought a truck

I love this truck, so I had to forego logic and purchase it anyway even though this piece of filth adorned the bumper. Did I give the Sabres bad Ju-Ju? Anyone know where I can get a Sabres bumper sticker?

It's good that you have a truck. If I recall, you recently bought a house, right?

Looks like a single cab Dodge Dakota? Nice.

Yep. Got the house. Got the truck. Got the dog. My man card will be mailed out anytime now.

I have a man card. I tried using it to get a 10% discount at the Ramada. They asked if I had AAA.

I told the women at the counter I'd pay her damn 10% but I was definitely leaving the seat up when I left, and then I burped, farted, spit and showed her a few licks of some Angus Young air guitar and then called later to complain that they didn't carry Versus.

AAA? Geez.

Yep. 98 Dakota Sport. Basically traded my wifes 99 Galant for it. Not a bad trade if you ask me.

Looks like the reliabily has improved. I bought an '89 Dakota S that was the worst vehicle I've ever had. Actually, that's not true. I had a '80 Sunbird the ran for 20 minutes before throwing a rod and an 82 Escort that cracked it's head in the first week. However, The combined price for those two was $700, and the Dakota had a $150/month payment that I was only able to shed when someone made a left in front of me and it got totaled. It went through two standard trannys, a clutch, rack and pinion steering assembly (it's quite a thrill to be in the middle of a left turn and halfway through there's no steering), the rear end assembly (this was the 4 cylindar engine, btw), brake rotors, rusted hood latches (happy monday - your hood just smacked the windshield!), all before it was four years old and had 50,000 miles on it.

I've never taken an auto loan since that truck, so it did at least teach me that lesson.

Obviously not funny at the time, but ILMFAO! Happy Thursday!

Been there, done that. 79 Camaro I bought froma buddy for $600. Driving 70 mph down the highway...BAM...winshield is all I see. Good times.

I'm glad it's never happened to me, but, I was on the 33 a few years ago, far left lane, doin' 60 or so, the car in front of me has their hood fly up, they proceed to stop dead in the lane, I step on the brakes, stop just behind them. I then look in my rearview mirror and see the semi coming, I toss on the flashers, the semi still is coming up fast from behind me. I'm yelling out the window at these people in front of me to get the f$ck off the road and they're laughing about it. I still see the semi coming, I put it in reverse to make some room and go around them. I didn't look back.

I've got an '04 Dakota Quad Cab. I love the truck, but the gas mileage sucks and it's a rear-wheel drive, which really hurts in the winter. I bought it in Florida before I had any thought of moving back up north, so as soon as we can swing it we'll be trading it in.

Nice. Supposedly my truck 98/Dakota/Sport/5-Speed/Manual gets 14/19 but I have yet to fill the tank and measure.

This area of NE Ohio is a little on the hilly side, and most of my trips are short city ones, so the V6 usually gets around 16-17 MPG combined. When we moved from Florida to Ohio we had a couple tanks when we got 25 MPG, and we were pretty ecstatic with that. It's a 24-gallon tank, so that can make the gas pretty expensive pretty quick.

The biggest problem is the winter driving - I have to weigh the crap out of the back end to have any sort of traction, but that kills the gas mileage...

That's funny, mainly because I work for AAA.
