  1. He got the puck behind his own net and then went end to end. I've never seen anything like it.

What happens if two of us have the same 5? Do we have to go on a date? Are X.Benedict and I soulmates? "Too many men on the ice."
  3. Will they? How many players benefit from the league's leniency when it comes to brain injuries?
  4. Yes, but they aren't even trying to address the more serious issue. And I actually think head shots are pretty easy to address. Minimum 20 game suspensions for head shots. They'll be gone in a few months.
  5. I would take the league's stance on visors a lot more seriously if they took head shots seriously. According to the league, guys getting accidentally hit in the eye is a major issue but players going out of their way to give other players brain trauma isn't all that pressing.
  6. It's just another option. I'm not sure if it would cut you more or less than a visor, but it takes care of the fog problem. (3M definitely makes face shields that don't fog so it's also silly to think that there isn't a hockey company that can license that technology.)

Vanek Hodgson Foligno Ehrhoff Ott (Not including Pysyk because he's a prospect and already part of the rebuilding process in my mind. Same with anyone we have in the CHL, AHL, or Europe)
  8. I Google'd the quote and it was Dr. Miller saying "[Don Draper] only likes the beginning of things!" in Season 4. There's a lot of that going around, Faye. I usually love all of our goalies. Hasek is still the only jersey with a name on it that I own. I liked Biron. I liked Miller a ton for a long time. I like Enroth now. I even liked Noronen for a while (I was at his first game). I'm just ready for something new. And like I said in another thread, once Pominville and Miller are gone, the book is completely shut on the 2006 team and we can move on.
  9. Steve Ott mentioned the "foggy visor" problem on the radio this morning and also said the visor ended up cutting him a few times when he tried it. Why isn't there a facemask equivalent to a visor? It wouldn't have to be the full mask they use in college, but couldn't that be an option? Is it just because it might look stupid?
  10. No idea if they'd want Miller, but I'd like Ekman-Larsson. BTW, if you have a really high draft pick, can you ever really go wrong by taking the top Swede available? Seems to work out pretty well. Also, if we're talking to Phoneix (we should be!), I want Henrik Samuelsson (the guy I really wanted to draft last year).
  11. If you're a good team that sucks at scoring goals (hello, Nashville), why wouldn't you part with a draft pick to take a chance on Drew Stafford? Nashville traded last year's first round pick for a guy whose only skill is being tall.
  12. All I know is this: I've got Miller Fatigue™. He's a good goalie, and sometimes he's a great goalie. But I'm basically exhausted from watching him, talking about him, and listening to his interviews where he somehow manages to sound condescending and suicidal at the same time (how???). Obviously that's a terrible reason to trade him or not re-sign him, but it would be so great to have someone new to be excited about. That is, an awesome young prospect on the way (note to Darcy: this exciting young netminder can come over via trade....like maybe if we're having a fire sale.....). It's been Miller time since 2005. I'm feeling very Don Draper-y and thinking I could get more interested in something if it's new. Just talking about my feelings.
  13. Aren't Sabres fans supposed to be fans, i.e. people who buy these tickets because they love the team? Guess that only goes so far in Buffalo.
  14. I was surprised too, but mostly because everyone makes it out like he's the same size as Gerbe. He's listed at 6'1" and 193 pounds. He should be able to bulk up some more from there, and never really be considered "small" right?
  15. He'll definitely need to get stronger and heavier but some of that should happen naturally. I liked his decision-making and his passing. He looked goofy on the one Capitals goal but that's going to happen when it's your first game in the league.
  16. Ullmark is probably a long shot but he definitely has a high ceiling if he pans out.
  17. Now Craig Button is saying he gave McKenzie bad information: Craig Button ‏@CraigJButton6h 1/3. Only person asleep at wheel was me. CBA definition for "Accrued Season" is number of games a player was on active roster. (Cont.) Craig Button ‏@CraigJButton6h 2/3: Thus Grigorenko & Matteau while not playing 23 games were on team's roster for 23 games & gain 1 accrued season for purposes of UFA. Craig Button ‏@CraigJButton6h 3/3: Nuance of CBA & I should know better. Learn everyday but I was wrong. @TSNBobMcKenzie wasn't wrong. It was I who was ill informed.
  18. Wow, I didn't realize that until you said it. So I went back to see how it all started and here I am on page 1 of the thread -- 15 months ago: Alright, everyone needs to start listening to me because I've been basically telling you the future right here on this message board.
  19. Great to hear. Thanks for posting this.
  20. with hockey pucks the size of laptops.
  21. Sure. But they went past the 23 games on the active roster threshold and, knowingly or unknowingly, it looks pretty bad. And even if Campbell's report turns out to be wrong and it was games played after all, having Grigorenko hang out here this year and play about 10 minutes a game just seems stupid. He did nothing in his first five games to make anyone think he belonged in the NHL right now. (By contrast, Myers was so good at 19 that the Sabres couldn't justify NOT keeping him.) But the decision seemed to come down to "well, I guess we need a guy" and they kept him. Then the team imploded and they STILL kept him around after they fired the coach -- apparently to make sure he learns how to be a member of a dysfunctional team. Oh, and to learn how to be an NHL player by centering John Scott for a few minutes a night. I guess you could say he was benefitting from working with that skating coach, but is that really better than learning how to be a leader in Quebec? The whole thing was a fiasco.
  22. I emailed Mike Harrington to see if anyone from The Buffalo News had heard the same thing and he just got back to me an hour ago. They're aware of Campbell's report but they can't confirm it on their own. Different sources are saying different things, and they've even checked with agents. The problem is that nobody has a copy of the new CBA to reference. Everyone is working with a "memorandum of understanding" that ended the lockout. Regier, and presumably Lamiorello, believed it was games played and is trying to get clarification at the current GM meetings. So that's where it's at. I really doubt Ken Campbell would just make something up or even go out on a limb like that (against what literally everyone else was saying) unless he believed his source, but we can hope his source just got it wrong.
  23. No, I never said it was "catastrophic", I said it was another sign that our team is poorly run. Sounds like the Devils made the same stupid mistake but (obviously) it's easier to forgive if you're a Devils fan since they've already proven that they know how to win championships (which you don't seem to think matters).
