  1. Scotty Bowman Stanley Cups: Montreal (5), Pittsburgh, Detroit (3)
  2. Well, I lived in Detroit for a while, and that was after being detached from the NHL for about a decade of my life; the Wings got me back into hockey. My wife is still a fan.
  3. I'll admit I was pulling for the Wings to tie it up; that was exciting. And they got the win. And they missed the playoffs too. It all worked out.
  4. Why do you use unnecessary apostrophes?
  5. Yes. Winners get sprinkles. And NHL teams.
  6. Ullmark was all but signed by the Sabres too. ***** happens.
  7. So I just cued up Kevyn's presser and his first word was So I don't want to hear ANYBODY complain about this meme again. It comes straight from the top!
  8. They said lower body during the game.
  9. Kelly fits right in his suitcase.
  10. What about "Adams believe that the HC of the Sabres will be a sought after position" makes you think he has someone in mind?
  11. So the point you're trying to make is his NJ record is an endorsement because it's better than Donny's? Basically his record and Donny's are not significantly different.
  12. The difference between guys like this and Lindy is that there would be no emotional or nostalgic attachment to Gallant or Boudreau. They'd be hired guns, probably coach the team for 2-3 years and if they didn't make the finals they'll be fired, but they're just guys, they're not Lindy.
  13. A serious answer to this: I think when Kevyn hired Donny there wasn't an extensive search. He knew Donny, had faith in him, and knew that's who he was going to hire. This time around Kevyn's job is realistically on the line. If he chooses poorly his head will be next. So I think he will reach out to every candidate he can think of that he thinks would do a good job and would be interested in coming to Buffalo. I wouldn't be surprised if he reaches out to a dozen or more candidates, interviews several and finally settles on one. I don't think Kevyn has any idea who the next HC of the Sabres will be, unlike last time. This time the search will be a real search.
  14. To the bold: Because while I loved Lindy, it seemed that by the time he left he'd lost the room. We've seen him lose the room in NJ, and it didn't take 16 years. I fear that the fire Lindy used to bring is more based in nostalgia than reality. I would love to see him come here and succeed, but again, I think that's more nostalgia for the past than current reality. And to your second line... Lindy was stale and no one was listening to him anymore. That was as important as the tank as far as why he was let go. A further thought: Of course maybe the tank itself was a factor that contributed to Lindy lost the room.
  15. I worry he would go stale (especially to the fans) quickly. If they're below NHL .500 on Thanksgiving the fans will turn on him.
  16. Is the Buffalo job that great of a challenge? The roster has a just a few holes, some of which at least might be filled internally They're one season removed from being the 3rd highest scoring team in the league, and all the top scores, save Mitts & Olofsson, are still here They have a good cap situation They have one of the top prospect pools Their core is just coming into their prime They have a good and deep defensive core They have a goalie that just stepped up to a high quality starter and another close prospect on the rise They just fired a fine development coach that couldn't quite get the team to win enough games With the a new perspective and the right coaching, the Sabres could easily be a playoff team, perhaps SC contenders
