  1. Heh. That's cool. I hope he does the alma mater proud.
  2. This has been around for almost a year, but I just saw it today for the first time. Nancy and Ann Wilson (from Heart) cover Stairway at the Kennedy Center, make Robert Plant tear up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JK_DOJa99oo
  3. This thread sucks. We're in tank mode. Learn to cope. It's going to be a long season. Instead of expressing an unprecedented amount of vitriolic internet rage, maybe try a new hobby, like liver-crushing alcoholism. For your health.
  4. Government shutdown's over, so furlough is over. Being back at work feels good.
  5. Sabres announced a Road Crew stop in LA, but cancelled it. Refund and "an autographed photo" on their way. Still though, boo-urns.
  6. If those jerkoffs at the Ottawa Sun have anything to say about it, he does. Oh man, now we gotta pick him up. Get him a sports coat and a microphone, quick.
  7. Don't forget Hecht, until he signed for like $1M, and folks no longer expected him to play top six. And be careful with everyone. I only hated Connolly on that list. Maybe that's the formula for whipping boy? Most under-performing top six player? Or maybe I should check the stats; maybe it's highest dollars per point or something. There are some advanced stats that indicate that, even last year, Stafford is far from the biggest dingleberry on the team.
  8. It sounds like an expat that wanted to write an article about how crazy his former sports town was, but missed the mark on a major talking point or two. I am firmly aware of Ralph Wilsons impending mortality, and I understand the consequences of what will happen if his will directly of indirectly (see: kids) puts the team up for auction before Los Angeles finds a team to fill Farmers Field, but none of that is anything close to for sure. We need him to live long enough to prevent LA from buying us when the new lease enters cheap-to-move mode, but not so long that he somehow prevents us from becoming a contender in the next 20 years. Sabres aren't going anywhere. At least until Terry and Kim both die, which, hopefully, will be a long, long time from now. And I still have desires of moving back some day so I can help in the rebuild.
  9. I don't like him, and I can ###### on him for lots of reasons, but he's working hard right now, and I can't ###### on him for that.
  10. I don't like Stafford that much. But smash him for playing badly and smash him for playing well? Give me a ###### break. He had a god awful ###### season. One that, with an uncharacteristically horrendous shooting percentage, seemed improbably bad. So he sets out to put his head down, work hard, and un###### himself in the off season. He comes back and he looks like a different player. I'm willing to give him a very tenuous wait-and-see, because even I recognize this isn't 2012-13 Stafford we're watching. He's been one of the best forwards for us the past three games, and like it or not, the team needs him to keep playing that way.
  11. He can do both. And should.
  12. Pick up Biron, assign him to the 2nd Intermission Report.
  13. Thanks for posting those. I tried to analyze the hit on youtube; sucked. The hit's not late, he doesn't leave his feet, and he keeps his elbow down. The head is the first point of contact, really because the opponent's momentum changes as he shoots. Kaleta's prevented from taking a more parallel angle by the other opponent (not that I think he would've tried to take that lesser angle). Just looks like Kaleta tried to run him, didn't have a good angle, missed his check, and happened to catch his head, mostly because he missed. No elbow, no leaving feet. edit: Despite his fast approach, Kaleta's also not charging, because he coasts into it. But it's Kaleta, so 75 games.
  14. Still furloughed due to government shutdown. CNN reported last night that if a vote was held, a continuing resolution to end the shutdown would easily pass, but House Republicans wouldn't force Boehner to allow a vote. This morning, it's let's talk about passing a measure to extend the debt ceiling, but letting the shutdown continue.
  15. Federal Shutdown Means No New Beer
  16. I scored like that once. It should never, ever work, ever. It has no business working. At least not in a game. Biron had backed into the net probably expecting that playing out would've opened him up to some side-to-side deke, and he ended up giving the top corners away. Not sure why he didn't go butterfly and try to poke check. It's a big lead at that point.
  17. Love the Staples slogan over Quick's shoulder in that vid.
  18. ######! Entire company, besides launch-critical folks, just got furloughed, likely until the government shutdown is over. This came as a surprise, as upper management swore up and down that we were unlikely to be affected; an Air Force General had other ideas. Time to start unwillingly burning the vacation time.
  19. He brought this up today on SHH. On Sportsnet, he was surrounded by smaller guys, and he recognized that he had far and away the biggest head, but he joked that by coming back to Buffalo he'd only be 3rd or 4th on the rotation. Funny stuff.
  20. Ahaha, Oilers have six alternate captains.
  21. If the captaincy helps Vanek make up his mind sooner, then good. If we ship him out, we already have a replacement set up.
  22. That's alright. I figure judging The Ron is sort of open to interpretation a little now, but, as you said, it will start to clear up as we get underway. Some people may judge his performance last season, considering that he got thrown into things a little, and that's ok. Some people won't. No wrong answers here. Definitely update your votes as you see fit.
  23. http://ow.ly/pmuKg New signage around the arena. Eliminates the generic signage, gives it some blue and gold polish. Looks good so far.
  24. It's probably fair that when considering Ron, we consider his contribution to the record while he's been here.
