Maybe another trade down year (like 2024). They only have a certain number of players worth drafting at 9 and they won’t be there. GMKA won’t find a trade partner to get a good NHL’er for #9, so instead he’ll settle for more picks. Hoping I’m wrong.

IMHO - losing Tuch would be a PR nightmare for this team. He’s the main piece in return for the Eichel trade. Flipping him for picks and/or prospects won’t sit well with fans or sell tickets. Maybe more importantly, losing a guy from NY who wanted to actually be here….but no longer stays by choice is such a damming indictment of the $hitshow this franchise has become.

Perhaps, but my thing is not necessarily getting the “Best” player in a trade, but rather the “Right” player. IMHO - this team still needs different types of players (ex. Stay at home defender, tougher forwards who have some offensive skill who will have teammates backs, etc.). These aren’t necessarily “Best” players from a talent standpoint, but could fill important needs and not have NMC’s.

He has all the leverage. I'll go with 5 x $9MM and hope he says yes. Remember Skinner was already making $9MM with his last Sabre contract. Tuch is much more important than Skinner.

I have a bad feeling that the answer is going to be Bernard-Docker....that's the best Mr. Incompetent GMKA can do.

This is a "stink" that the franchise will never be rid of (kind of like the bad odor in Jerry Seinfeld's car). Whether it's Drury, Ryan Miller or Tage Thompson....this team never has the toughness or will to have each other's backs.

If that ever happens, that team would be dead to me. I might actually hope they achieve an even more incredible level of incompetency....if that is even possible.

Agree....maybe a different choice of words vs. "better" (IMHO I would be inclined to use "Different"). An example of different might be a top 4 shutdown RHD could be a win for this organization. Another win might be a package that nets a true 1C or 2C. To your point, more muscle or better goalie is also a difference....for the better 😉

I want big defenders in our system as well, BUT I also want them to have a built-in mean streak. You can’t coach size….but you also can’t coach toughness. I’d rather have a 6-3 defender who instinctively wants to punish opposing players vs. a 6-5 softee who wants to play with finesse.

If a trade can be had for a top 6 player that immediately makes this team look more like the Panthers, I’m all for it….including moving JJP and a bunch of other younger/unproven players. That said, I also think it is dangerous for a pending RFA to be able to dictate (through his agent) an interest to be moved. Pending UFA’s like Tuch can make demands, but JJP should not be able to as a pending RFA.

Muel. Maybe both players just need a change of scenery.

Big moves and trades coming?!?! I’ll believe it when I see it. I might feel differently if the team showed any willingness to fire some assistant coaches, but since they’re all still there….why should anybody believe any significant player moves will happen?

The Sabres wouldn’t hire the very best coach in the entire world, even if that coach begged TP and KA to hire him. They are committed to naming Seth Appert as the next HC….whenever Lindy is done. It’s sad, but inevitable.

Sorry, but to even think this is remotely a possibility is too hard for me to fathom. The only way Shanny ever gets a job in this joke of an organization is if he literally BUYS the team.
