Bad turnover by Team Canada in their zone coupled with a deflected shot by the Canadian defenseman's stick from a dangerous part of the ice. Agree, hard to fault Tomkins on that one. No North American teams in the mix for the medals....thanks Covid!

1. Yes absolutely! 2. Yes absolutely....maybe JJP too if he's ready to contribute 3. Perhaps the most important IMHO. With so much promising youth, having another high impact vet that is still in his prime could help build the critical mass needed to create a resilient new mindset and winning culture. -

That's two in a row, right? Granted it was Montreal and the Isles, but TWO in a row! -

Nice seeing what Cozens Krebs can do together....maybe they can get Victor going again finally! -

I wouldn't mind seeing him back next year (vs. Bjork, Eakin, etc.) -

Unfortunately, Tony M. didn't have the best driving reputation after hitting those hot spots. -

Let's hope this gets decided in regulation, otherwise I don't feel confident about a good OT outcome. -

Personally, I'd rather see Houser back in net. -

Wow....McKegney and Derek Smith in the house...take me back 40+ years! -
On what basis (Power playing on the right)? Did you see or hear something? Otherwise, I am not sure it's the best scenario to have 2 offensive minded D playing 5-on-5 together (but I might be too old school) 😉

Old coach mentality probably means that Levi won't start a game now that they are past the prelims. I wonder if Levi was pulled, does he forfeit eligibility for a medal (in case Canada does well)?
-
Based on yesterday's loss against Team USA, maybe Julien should reconsider who starts in net next game: https://www.cbc.ca/sports/olympics/winter/hockey/olympics-mens-hockey-canada-us-analysis-hall-1.6349561 Bring on Devon!!! Give him a chance!!!
-
Thanks...I missed that. I know this is a Devon Levi thread, but whoever plays net for the US women's team is going to have to stand on her head for them to beat Team Canada. They look really strong and they seem better at cashing in goals (vs. the US) Back to Devon, I be disappointed if he doesn't get a chance to start...hoping that will change.

Seems like the height mismatch has something to do with this as well. Zadorov would have had to get down to a 3-pt stance to be at the same level as Kase 😉 Zadorov likes to use his body, but IMHO it didn't look like a deliberate intent to injure.
-
I was kind of hoping the coach would give each netminder a chance to play a game in the early round to see who's playing well vs. not. Kind of like what the US Women's team did in their first 3 games. May not happen as the men's teams are more evenly matched vs. the women's having just 2 dominant teams. Not sure otherwise how he'll get a look unless someone else falters.

What do you want to see from the Sabres in last 37 games?
Carmel Corn replied to Crusader1969's topic in The Aud Club
1. Our top prospects helping Rochester achieve playoff success 2. Signing all of our NCAA prospects 3. Seeing Mittelstadt back in the lineup and showing signs of growth and improvement to set the stage for next season 4. Seeing more from Asplund, Olofsson and Bjork.....they have underperformed in my opinion 5. Maximizing the return for our UFA's at the deadline -
My only struggle with comparing Rosen to Olofsson is the fact that Victor was a 7th rounder who has developed and achieved some success not typical of most 7th rounders. Rosen was selected in the mid range 1st round and therefore I have higher expectations of any player selected that high. It's way too early as most here agree, but I am hoping this pick doesn't end up being another Alex Nylander type situation. On the other hand, if he develops into the next Alex DeBrincat, then I won't have any complaints.

Kris Baker: possible Sabre college FA signings
Carmel Corn replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Aud Club
Thanks...I don't know anything about him. How would you describe his general style....ex. offensive-minded, shut-down, etc.? -
Could Sabres of mid 2020's look like Lightning of past few years??
Carmel Corn replied to sweetlou's topic in The Aud Club
Not sure I envision the same comparisons. A more mature version of the young Sabres above may certainly have talent, but I feel like the team needs more players who can also play a physical style, especially for playoff hockey. Not saying "goons", but rather players who can contribute to the scoring but also win puck battles along the boards, neutralize defenders in front of our net, etc. Tampa's 3rd and 4th lines last year were significant. -

Fitzgerald with a strong follow-up to the net as well on that rush. -

Is the big save of the game usually given to the other team? Maybe Dan picked it tonight...as he seems to be the Av's "bitch" tonight. -

Looked like a missed high-stick that he took to his face near the blue line. -

I've got mixed feelings on Victor....I think he's an RFA after this season. I haven't seen enough growth in his game this year to cause me to say he should be a big part of the Sabres' future plans, but I guess we still need shooters.
