I consider Philly to be one of the teams suspiciously in tank mode (Philly, Chicago, San Jose). We should be all over them. Two minutes on Dahlin, but I still like him asserting himself.

Put Josh in the lineup! Power forward! He'll get the boys amped up on the ice.

Anybody not think we need two different goalies next year...whether UPL is one of them or not?

In my own mind, my hope is that Cozens can develop into a Tuch type power forward. Don't need him to be the enforcer, but would like to see him get stronger and add more muscle mass to match what I think is his willingness to play hard and win 1-on-1 battles.

If I may build on this....another player like Tuch, who has size and plays with SPEED. We can add big bodies, but it doesn't help if they can't keep up or drive the play like Alex does.

In a game between tanking teams, Chicago and San Jose are tied 1-1 in the 2nd. Blackhawks have lost 8 straight, Sharks have lost 7 straight.

Donnie needs to figure out how to get Krebs and Cozens going...even if it means tweeking the lines. I still prefer to keep Thompson, Tuch and Skinner together.

Kind of don't see the point of pulling the goalie when you're down 3 goals.

I feel like we're really missing Mule's presence to help neutralize STL's top line.

Sabres are snakebit, no puck luck, just bad luck.

On a different note, the Leafs are crushing the Caps 6 to 1 in the 2nd. The Sabres should feel good about how they stack up these days.

As someone said above, big difference in speed between the two teams. I have no complaints about the effort tonight...just need a little more puck luck.

Notice how Power was the second one in after Tuch's shot on goal?

Power has again been noticeable to me tonight...in a quiet way (I know that sounds contradictory). He just seems to have a kind of stealth way of jumping in without looking like he's having to work very hard....difficult to explain. He creates opportunities without looking to flashy doing it....really look forward to watching him for many years.

Phantom penalties lead to a PP goal.

Kind of forgot that Parayko is a big boy as well. Could you imagine having him paired with Power? Two 6'6"" guys with long reach taking up space defending our zone.

The arena would have gone nuts if Power could have cashed that shot in for his first ever.

Yeah, it usually doesn't work out as hoped (William > Alex). It didn't succeed with Keith Gretzky and Wayne Primeau either (IMHO)

Hindsight is 20-20 of course. If I'm not mistaken, we had some older and acquired guys as part of the D-corp including Gorges, Franson, maybe Pysyk/Kulikov in addition to Risto, McCabe and BOGO. I can only guess the mgmt thought defense was covered and wanted to add more offense I guess. Nylander had a decent world juniors that year (maybe)?

Hmmm, for some reason I picture Leaf's fans thinking the same thing about Matthews and Marner in last year's playoffs. In their case maybe $20 million combined and pretty quiet in their first round exit vs. Montreal. It made me so sad to see that.........not! 😉
